Too abrasive?

I have a new roll of Isanmate PLA+ Wood that I want to run. Can I use the AMS or should I use the external spool holder?

Thanks

I would use external so as to limit the rub on the tubing, as it can wear out tubing over a period of time. But all depends on how much you are looking to print.

I have been running metal filled filament, like the Pruament Tungsten PETG or the Protopasta Iron-filled Metal Composite PLA and quite a bit of BBL PLA-CF and did not notice any problem.

Personally, I would go for it. If you have to replace the PTFE tubs, so what? I mean the delivered spares and it costs nothing. For me, its well worth the ease of just storing those filaments and having them ready as needed in the slicer.

I printed some pretty abrasive filaments from AMS, like Vibers PLA, Glowfill and even a little bit of PA-GF when I needed a multicolor print with black Nylon.
I would strongly advise caution - PTFE tubes actually held just fine for me, but the PTFE connectors have metal inserts in them that for some reason tend to get stuck on such gritty/grindy/hairy filament types and this later manifests as problems pulling the filament out of the extruder (or worse if the metal shavings get somewhere else).
Secondly, it will rapidly eat the first stage feeder intake “nozzles”. You can print PTFE savers but I’m not sure how much help those really are.
Thirdly, take care to blow some air everywhere after printing “hairy” stuff like this (though PLA-CF is much worse, IMO).
And lastly, those filaments tend to get soft at lower temperature compared to regular PLA, so print with the top glass removed and some airflow or you will get a clog.
