Hello all. Im thinking of trying to print TPU 95A, I have both an ams 2 pro and a new AMS HT which is drying the TPU as I speak. Ive read conflicting things on this and how to actually feed 95A, and bambus video only shows 90 and 85A. Can I just run this from the AMS HT? or do i need to fool with the port in the back. Im new to Bambu, thanks for the help.
The AMS doesn’t worth with TPU. That’s why they have the secondary port on the AMS HT. You should also bypass the buffer.

Maybe a mod could swap out the filament winder gears for ones of a material that won’t stretch/deform TPU?
I don’t know I just feel like something like that can exist (but, yk, you could just use a spool holder or AMS HT TPU bypass, I’m just spitting out an idea)
Normally it’s recommended to remove the top cover and run TPU straight into the print head from directly above. There are various models on makerworld for this.
I have switched to the various “air” or “variable hardness” filaments that become flexible depending on print temperature (for example PEBA Air or Varioshore)
These are stiff through the extruder, and become flexible as they are heated in the print head. Antoher advantage is that you can change the hardness by varying the temperature
I saw that only thing is my ams2 sits on top as I haven’t printed another holder for that yet.
I saw those also. 50 bucks a spool tho. But if it prints through the ams that could be another option for me.
Don;t know. But it will feed through the external filament tube via the rear spool holder, so you do not have to dismount the AMS; you just need to unplug the PTFE (or purcahse/print a tube splitter)
As I have mentioned in several threads now, I feed all my 65A–95A TPU and PEBA from my AMS HT (bypass) through the PTFE tubes to the printer’s bypass and on to the print head. This is not the recommended setup according to Bambu Lab, but it works if you have smooth filament paths and properly dried TPU/PEBA. However, you should not use the printer’s automatic load and unload sequences; instead, load and unload manually to ensure you do not snag the soft filament in the extruder.
Just finished a multi day TPU series of jobs on my H2C. I use the AMS HT mount from Henryk on Makerworld. Had absolutely no issues.

It should feed fine from the AMS HT , and via that special TPU direct port in the back of the printer nearer the center , not the buffered PTFE ports.
The more direct and short you can make the path out of the AMS HT to that port the better - requires some sideways placements of the AM HT above and to the side of the printer. The AMS 2 Pro or AMS (1) are a no go of course.
Just use a TPU that is of the firmness approved for the AMS HT.

No 95 is softer than tpu for ams.
“TPU for AMS” is 68D hardness, not even in the same league as “regular” TPUs. More like a flexible PLA.

Indeed. The complexities of the 3 shore scales really make life confusing. A vs D.
The key part is the D, which is a different scale than A, for measuring harder materials.

For example 70D is something very stiff like a hard-hat or wooden ruler. 70A is something like tread on a car tire or a shoe sole.

85A which is near 40D should work from an AMS HT of its positioned well and fed into the printer appropriately.

I’ve also had good luck using the Ams ht direct port and the unbuffered port.
instead of using the rollers in the Ams ht I suspend the reel from a single shaft supported with bearings. That seems to help quite a bit with friction and I’ve been able to put the Ams ht on the top or my preferred position on the bsck side feeding more directly into the printer. Also handy for carbon fiber filament.
I think the problem with using the AMS with tpu would be the buffer. The Ams ht requires a certain amount of force to stop feeding and I don’t think that will happen with the soft tpu.
