TPU Assist Module Unload trouble

I successfully printed a TPU 90A model. When I went to unload the filament, I pressed the unload button and could hear the process starting, but, nothing would unload. I checked the Wiki for troubleshooting help. It wasn’t helpful. I had to cut the filament at the tool head after removing the PTFE tube. I was then able to use the TPU assist module to unload the filament.

  1. What, if anything, did I do wrong in trying to unload the filament.
  2. I tried to heat the nozzle to unload what remained, but, nothing seem to extrude.

Please advise….

I use this thing quite a bit. When done printing I press advance to turn it off (light out), if you are using a nozzle that has the cutter on it (H2 series can use special TPU nozzles that require the cutter to be removed) I just tell the printer to unload the filament and once it says pull the filament out I hit retract. You “may” need to remove the tube from the inlet to the head before you start unloading, but you need to deactivate the active mode first. The reason for removing the tube is to release a little pressure as the extruder backs up a little bit while it’s heating before it tells you to pull the filament out. I dont do this but I probably should.

I ended up have to removing the extruder and cleaning it out. Whatever I did caused a minor jam in the extruder. Thanks for your steps. I’ll pay more attention to them in the future.

That’s tracks with my experience. The few times I forgot to hit unload on the printer the final time it good and jammed in the extruder which I didn’t enjoy having to clear.
