I have been loving a different brand’s tri-color filament, but I’d like to be able to use my Bambu gift cards to purchase it- I go through a lot Dual color is okay, but triple color is the only kind that I’d buy. There’s lots of different color combos that look good, I’d appreciate having lots of options

Support for marking AMS filament colors as “triple color” (or dual) and selecting the colors manually would be nice. Even if it was just in Studio and not on printers, though at least the X/A series with their touchscreens could be able to use it.

Be aware that there are many reports of Bambu Lab’s triple colour silk in particular not working well with the AMS.
I have no personal experience with the BL dual or triple materials.
I have used other manufacturer’s materials in silk dual and triple without issues. I have not tried either in the AMS, I used mine with the AMS lite, before I obtained a few P1S printers.

triple materials
They don’t have triple color though
They’re apparently re-working Silk PLA so maybe that’ll improve the Dual colors as well. Hopefully that fixes any issues
From memory, the triples were not cylindrical in shape and jammed the AMS.
I hadn’t noticed they had gone.
I haven’t explored those style filaments from BL. I favour the PLAs, metals, PETG, ABS, CF & GF ones.
I may purchase some in the sale. I could always add an extension to the fort I have made with all the existing filament.

Huh, didn’t realize they had them in the past. Good to know! Definitely not good if they jammed though
Now you have me wondering if I imagined the triple-colour Bambu Lab filament.
I can’t find anything about it, and searching for it just brings up a familiar forum post…
Yeah, I searched for them after reading your comment earlier and ended up in the same place.
You made me doubt myself and you were right.

The misshapen filament was the dual colour silk from Bambu Lab.
Today i got some filament that i ordered, including the PLA Silk Dual Colour which i decided to try. When i wanted to load it in the AMS i could feel between my fingers that something is far off… It is oval in shape, from 1,5mm to 1,9mm!! This means -14% +8% from the stated 1,75mm diameter
I ended up without feeding it to the AMS as i don’t want to mess my AMS or printer…
What are your thoughts about this one? To me it looks like a total junk…

I had a fascinating reply from Rick at Bambu tech support about this!
To ensure that the filament does not rotate during the printing process and thus provide the dual-colour effect, the filament of PLA Silk Dual Color is designed to be oval instead of circular; that is, its average diameter is 1.75 mm, and the actual value is mainly in the range of 1.60 mm to 1.85 mm.
You may have received a filament spool outside of these specifications.
So it sounds like it is oval by design!
He has off…
