Unable to bind printer using Bambu Lab or Bambu Handy

I am a new X1C owner and have not been able to bind the printer to my account using either Bambu Lab or Bambu Handy app on a Samsung phone. The printer shows it is tied to my Wifi and it shows up in both software applications. When attempting to bind using Bambu Lab I get the following error: Login failed (code=-20,info=timeout) Please check printer network connection. When attempting to bind using Bambu Handy I get the error “No Response”.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve

Can you check the router’s settings, i.e. does it provide a 2.4 Ghz network ?

I checked my router settings and my router 2.4 and 5 GHz share the same network name and password. I had checked this earlier and have no idea what the printer is actually connected with other than that it is connected.

I had a similar problem connecting to smart wifi components, once I separated the 2.4 and 5G and named them differently using the same password I connected the items to 2.4 network with no problem.

you must separate 2,4 and 5 must not be equal and use the 2,4

Thank you for the help. I will contact Optimum for help on this one. They don’t make it easy. I was trying to establish a guest network where I can set this up myself but get the continuous ‘loading’ spinning circle.

I have changed cable modems to a Netgear to separate the 2.4 and 5G signals (Optimum was totally useless and uncooperative on their hardware so I purchased my own). I have connected the 3D printer to the 2.4GHz signal as well as my phone and computer with the Bambu software. I still get the same error messages as before (No response on the phone, and timeout errors on the computer). I am at a loss hear as I have had this printer for 3 weeks and it has not even had 1mm of filament through it. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone in another thread suggested connecting it to your phone hotspot to bind and then reconnect back to wifi. I’ve got this same issue, but for network coverage reasons, I can’t do that myself so can’t confirm if that will work yet.

Thank you blackrat. I was finally able to bind the printer using this method. Switching back to Wifi seems to be hit and miss on my PC. I am able to connect using Bambu Studio for about 30 seconds and then it immediately reverts back to “Failed to connect to the printer” error message. If I leave both the printer and PC connected to the phone hotspot, this doesn’t occur. Not sure what is going on but I am going to try and make my first print.

Glad that helped. I finally managed to do this myself too.

I think we may have similar issues, although mine balked in trying to update to the latest firmware and I’m in a reset/reconnect/calibrate cycle that’s getting a little wearing. Still not tried to print yet.

I was able to make my first prints but switching to Wifi did not work at all. There was no communication with the printer on either my phone or PC when tied to 2.4Ghz Wifi network. I have updated the technical support case with this info. Hopefully this can be resolved as switching to phone as a hotspot is a real nuisance.

Problem Solved! I ended up changing the DNS settings on my Wifi router to the Cloudflare settings and it now works connected to the Wifi. I had changed this on individual devices (including the phone) previously because my ISP default DNS settings did not allow access to the Bambu website for me to order the printer to begin with. The printer just used the router default DNS which would not communicate with the Bambu website. Whew! This has been an ordeal but thought I would share this in case anyone else had the same issue. Thank you all for the help and suggestions.

do you now know why there was the info timeout

Support was not helpful. I had 2 problems. The first is the DNS from my ISP (Optimum) would not permit access to the Bambu site and would not connect. I ended up changing the DNS server from the ISP to Cloudfair. The second problem was my WiFi router was a “smart router” from my ISP and would automatically connect to 5GHz if it was available at my printer. Optimum flat out refused to turn off the smart router feature nor would they permit me to establish a guest account with the 2.4GHz signal. I ended up purchasing a Netgear Cable Modem and set it up myself so that I could connect the 3D printer to the 2.4GHz signal and have not had a problem since. Hope this helps.

does anyone have any other solutions for this issue?
i can see the printer in bambustudio or the mobile app but i always get the timeout error when trying to bind them. the Network check on the Printer says everything is fine. also the app checks the network after binding is unsucessful , and comes back with the message that the network is fine.

i also tried a wifi with just 2,4Ghz but with no positive results.

I’m having a similar issue with my P1P.

I’m not able to bind my printer using BambuHandy or BambuStudio, it’s keeps giving me error -134 or could not login.

It all started after the recent firmware, after that I couldn’t send prints successfully to the printer and it kept disconnecting so I figured I’d reset the printer and re-bind it from start but I haven’t been able to do so.

Hi, I have been having similar issues with wifi – the printer just disconnects every single time when I am printing something. Did you encounter this same issue with wifi? The printer is visible in router, but cant ping to it, neither connect to handy/studio, as it is showing “offline”. Thx for answer m8

I was having the same issues, as the original poster. However, I then created specific 2.4Ghz network, but that still failed. Used blackrat’s trick and it worked. The printer was working fine from then on the specific 2.4Ghz network. However, it is a massive pain to have a specific 2.4Ghz for various reasons, so I tried putting my router (Velop) back to its original mixed mode, and by golly it is still working.

I also did what blackrat suggested. Now I’ve switched back to my home wifi it still seems to work. It’s the binding that seems to struggle.
