Assuming the ban was automatic, it makes more sense. Giving them 30 days to manually check for nefarious activity (when they are already over burdened when it comes to support).
I can understand someone downloading their own models.
A few potential reasons:
- Their file system is a mess.
- They model a lot (in my case my 3D print folder has over 200 folders for designs in it, and 48,639 items.
- Continuous improvements - Often a design is uploaded, but the designer occasionally revisits it to make improvements. They may have a lot more files that arenāt yet ready/compatible with whatās on Makerworld, but could easily be mixed up with whatās been uploaded.
- And the big one, someone has raised an issue with a print and the designer wants to check the files on the server.
That is the only explanation I could come up with. I did appeal my ban and it was denied. But again, Iām not angry itās just a system that needs some attention/tweaks before the platform moves from beta to gold.
Sorry this happened to you. It sounds like youāre only prevented from redeeming for 30 days. Thatās a very light āpunishmentā. Just wait it out and redeem later. Good luck!
Being ignorant of laws/rules does not absolve one from having to abide by them.
Which circles back toā¦ As an adult sometimes the personal choices we make are not the right ones and we have to live with the outcome.
In the end you got a minor slap on the wrist. Of all the things happening in this world right now a 30 day delay in redeeming some points is such an insignificant thing to dwell over.
Donāt be silly. This should never even be a issue to begin with.
Nothing about at all to do with being a āadultā or whatever going on in world. both not related whatsoever.
- System should not count downloading of own model.
- System should not count likes either.
It is GOOD practice to download your own model. Even multiple times. Any reasonable adult should do it.
- Checking youāve uploaded correct file.
- Checking everything loaded ok on uploaded file people are going to be spending filament on print.
- Downloading it again whenever a update the model to check above again. (multiple times)
Anything I print I hope the designer has followed this.
Now threatening to leave that is childish.

So true!
Some time ago, files uploaded to Thingiverse got corrupted. Since then, I usually download and check the files I upload on every platform for the benefit of the user. Do I really havo to stop doing this at Makerworld?
Without making any accusations, itās possible that these self-downloads donāt provide the full picture and might be completely unrelated. Over the past few months, weāve had several complaints about unjustified bans. In most cases, if I remember correctly, there was often something suspicious that wasnāt voluntarily disclosed.
I donāt believe this practice poses a problem for Makerworld, as many users, myself included, have confirmed doing the same thing. If their systems flagged this as fraudulent, we would all have been flagged or banned. Therefore, there must be something unique about this particular case that isnāt apparent to an outside observer.
Well I want to find the real reason if this is the case. Any possible issues you guys know of that I might have done?
This should never even be a issue to begin with.
Exactly. Not only is this 10 or 15 models that I downloaded, but only the first five were counted due to the recent changes (which I dislike).

Yeah, Iām not making alt accounts to like my stuff. Everyone else likes their own stuff, and so I do as well so that my models donāt start with 0 likes and downloads. If they removed the ability to do that, thatās fine with me as long as they implemented it retroactively as well.
Now threatening to leave that is childish.
Not the way I see it. If they are being scummy and shady, I will leave, just like I left Printables. They suppressed my model by throwing it all the way at the bottom of searchāeven though itās the 3rd most popular. Of course this all happened the same day as I would start earning points again due to the monthly cap resetting. I left, and if MakerWorld blocks me from redeeming the points I earned, I may leave or not post as much.
Also, Iām not the only one: "You are temporarily blocked from redeeming points"
We see youāve earned too many points in a small amount of time
They should really rename this category into Drama & Popcorn
Haha Iāll go grab some popcorn
Ok, did a bit more looking into the data. I did 15 profiles for 12 models. The Button Fidget, Skateboard Ramps, and Dino all had 2 profiles for the same model. This all happened on May 23rd, so earlier than I thought. Hereās the download graph.
On the same day, I also made organized collections of my models. This is possibly what triggered it, but when I asked them, they didnāt say it was that.
Blue is points from profiles
IDK if this gives any insight, but there is all is.
It looks completely normal to me. A manual review should have been favorable for you. However, Iām not sure if they actually conduct manual reviews.
Yeah I understand, itās frustrating but look at the bright side, that leaves you more time to earn more points before buying your printer. I usually donāt wait for redeeming a coupon. As soon as I have enough points, I do it. Just in case of something like that happens because youāre not the first to whom that had happend and not the last one either.
And I know too well what an unorganized harddrive looks like. Iām also downloading my on MW, itās way quicker to find my models and Iām sure itās the right version.
Yep, I donāt think they do.

Glad Iām not the only one

@MakerWorld is it true that you donāt have manual reviews?
They have manual reviews for sure. I suggest asking if they conducted one in your case. Their responses were quite vague (as usual), and it seems they relied solely on their automated systems.
Okay, Iāll add that to the ticket.
Edit:
Ok, here we go:
Hello!
After getting input from the community, someone suggested checking to see if you had done a manual review. Has one been conducted yet? If not, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Zammer 3D
THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES UHL!!!
@Uhl suggested I ask for a manual review. They responded:
Hi Zammer 3D,
Thank you for your response.
After evaluating your account, the relevant staff has decided to restore your points redemption privileges.
To avoid triggering system restrictions in the future, we recommend refraining from repeatedly downloading the same model.
Furthermore, we appreciate your suggestion regarding download counts, and we will provide feedback to further optimize our risk control system.
Best regards,
MakerWorld
So yeah, thanks for all the responses! Looking forward to my A1 Mini
