You can build it yourself if you buy some magnetic foil and a float glass piece with the same size. Would also be cheaper I think.
As I described a few miles back in this thread.
You can get it under 5 EUR if youâre handy.
I wish I could. Here you cannot even get float glass that cheap But around 25 bucks is easily possible, even if you are lazy in sourcing the parts.
Thatâs sad. But you could use a glass from some old mirror, if you found one somewhere in the attic or so. Mirrors are guaranteed extremely flat glass, otherwise the picture would be distorted.
Yes, that would most likely work. If you still have flat glass laying around, all you need is a cheap magnetic foil, some way to cut the glass and a bit of sandpaper to CAREFULLY sand the edges a bit (best by using a sanding block, not your hands directly).
Gents, my replacement bed for my replacement bed (heh!) shipped! Meanwhile the aluminum bed situation is happening as well.
For any of you looking at the official Bambu forum on FB, someone did receive their new bed today as well and⌠it is FLAT (according to the user)! Canât find the link but look at the official Bambu forum.
Also, @Umuzoo is a king amongst men! Sending me a replacement for the cracked goodplate. Options galore!
Saw the post in the FB group. Could also be that he was lucky and received THE flat bed of the many warped ones⌠BL said ones that the new production wonât be ready b4 April or so.
Heres hoping the new flat ones stay flat and dont go all soggy when heated tp 100 deg.
I have been told my replacement wont be ready till end of April.
That was over a week ago.
That is what I ment.- New badge will come later. Flat beds received now are pure luck.
Pure speculation with no evidence.
Why would they risk it sending questionable beds to the people who have been waiting the longest (some of who, already received a replacement bed that was warped too)?
What would they gain? Saving a week or two?
Because they mentioned a while ago that the new batch of beds, supposedly to be flat and not warped, wonât be read b4 April. This coincides with the statement above âI have been told my replacement wont be ready till end of April.â
Bambu Lab havenât made any public statements about when beds would be ready. Everything is being communicated privately by multiple support agents at different times, to specific people when their specific replacement bed would be ready, probably based on the order the ticket was received and the availability of new replacement beds.
The very first person to post in this thread about being sent a new replacement bed said theirâs would be shipped about a week ago, which lines up with some people receiving them right about now. Others were told mid April, others were told end of April. This seems to coincide with their production/shipping schedule of new printers being shipped every 2 weeks from China.
In the US you can go to Home Improvement store like Loews or Home Depot and get a box of 5 or 6 mirror tiles for around $9-10, and as said theyâre very flat and can be cut to size.
Be sure to smooth the edges with a diamond stone!
Klunky but it works âŚ
Hello all,
after only about 2 weeks I have now received a replacement heating bed, marked V3 (new, flat version?).
This heating bed looks OK. I did the light test with a spirit level (yes, a very straight spirit level!) and the surface seems very level to me. Attached are a few pictures, maybe they say something.
Wait, I was a bit too euphoric. I discovered three air pockets in the black surface. Unfortunately, these disturb the otherwise good overall impression and I have to complain again.
I will take air bubbles over an uneven bed any day, as you can use a needle to release them, or just apply a new magnetic sticker sheet.
My replacement bed shipped and is expected to be here within a week, fingers crossed itâs an improvement from my current bed!
Oh WTF @BambuLab GET YOUR QC STRAIGHT ALREADY! Air bubbles? Really?
If I get a bed with air bubbles, I am done with this sh**ty company (and to the usual suspects, spare me the simping!)
This pissed me off to no end.
Also, if I were you Iâd send it back.
Congrats! Very promising!
Iâam so jealous right now but also looking forward to my, hopefully soon, new beds.
I have already thought of that. However, I do not know how the structure is. Possibly the heater could be damaged, I did not want to risk that. What is the black surface made of? Does anyone know? Is it a magnetic plate with a plastic surface or something?
Otherwise, the bed is really wonderfully flat, in both directions.
Usually it is only a thick magnet sheet which is taped onto a flat rigid surface. The heater is placed underneath the rigid surface.
Iâm not 100% sure if this also applies for the bambu beds. But would assume soâŚ
I personally would cut it a bit with a cutter and try to push the trapped air out.
