The odds are not looking good for the replacement beds so far. Granted, only a few people have provided updates, but I expect the number to go up over the next 2-3 weeks. It’s entirely possible that they are just sending out replacements from a new shipment of the same manufacturing run that created the crappy beds in the first place.
At this point I’m planning to create my own version of a goodplate. I sourced the necessary materials and they should be here by mid-week. I’m modifying the design and construction a bit so you theoretically shouldn’t have to use clips, thereby preserving access to the entire 256x256 build surface. If it works, that would hopefully let me ride out this current wave of crappy replacements until BL gets their act together or a superior third party option is available. My replacement hasn’t shown up yet, but I’m not hopeful that it will be any better than what’s already installed.
Its a bit of a worry that Bambu are still sending out faulty replacement heatbeds this far down the line
This issue has been ongoing since God was a lad.
Yep, I know about the two, one have a visible blue light from the camera the second not, I taped the whole, but as I said to be 100% sure I will double my tests, but more important I will redo them without any additional light.
The video you link is about PA calibration, I always set it manually now using filament GCODE, I am no more using the autocalibration feature of Bambulab (because the result is not displayed or even stored for the filament), also I found from my tests that the Lidar result may be completly wrong when overlighted (fo example, if you put your printer near a window, or if you are using additional lighting) and as I added a full led strip at the top of my printer, the Lidar may fail on PA measurment silently and make the print totally bad…
So I run it at 110°C for some short time and bed developed a nice bubble . WTF Bambu, you got so much of advanced technology right but cannot make a decent bed which ruins it all.
They are lying and covering up the fact that there is no feasible way to fix this banana bed issue. NOTHING has been fixed, at least as per my experience.
My new replacement for my older replacement is even worse!
So what was the point of the wait? I waited nearly a month and a half for their “new improved QC” to produce better beds.
Just know that you have 120 days to file for chargebacks from the day of delivery, at that point they have no incentive to refund your printer (just like they have no incentive to honor your banana bed issues at this point). Don’t waste time.
Don’t take this the wrong way because it seems you’re very unhappy, but have you returned your printer? Are they refusing the return? I’m genuinely curious, not trying to shut you down.
I’m getting my X1C combo delivered this Friday so I’m not sure where I’ll end up in this. I’m a bit surprised to see so many people angry in this thread, why not just return it and move on? That’s what I would do if I get unlucky and end up with a bad print bed. I think it’s a matter of time until this is solved for real by this company, or another printer comes out that is competitive with this one.
Because 4+ weeks ago many people opened tickets for this issue and were told to wait for new replacement Beds that were promised by support to be flatter.
Well here we are, those beds are arriving 4+ weeks later, some just as warped if not worse than the original beds.
I can 100% empathize with those feeling incredibly frustrated, they were mislead by support & have had to live 4+ weeks with a machine that was in some way or another unusable. It’s just lame af and the lack of transparency on the matter makes it super icky
I’m thankful I trusted my gut & jumped at the opportunity for refunds when support offered them.
Looks like I’m waiting for a Bambu “Pro” after all
I understand–that sucks, so I’m wondering about how returns are being handled. You got burned after waiting patiently, will they now take a return? I think that is useful information to anyone that gets unlucky now. They should just have a simple policy, that way people have an out.
I would be really unhappy if I felt stuck and now I have to wait even longer for ANOTHER replacement bed when your confidence is already shot. Having an open return policy for busted print beds seems like a good way to handle this. Once trust is broken… you know, very hard to establish again.
Are you saying that I was wrong to give Bambu a chance? (I am just kidding friend)
Secondly, despite the defensive mindsets consumers bring to conversations like this, the consumer tends to always have a much higher incentive to work with the company involved than vice versa. I mean, who has the time to wrap all of it up and play the return game right from the get go? That’s always the last resort.
Edit: Also, sorry, didn’t answer the part about the return. I hadn’t discussed return with BL till I received the bed yesterday. Now waiting on a reply.
If someone would cnc‘d a flat aluminum heatbed 1:1 to the original with the original magnet sheet, sheet placers and the lidar calibration points i would pay easily 300$ for it at this point. How is it possible to f*** up a printer with this much tech in it that is so good with a banana heatbed ? I don’t get it … Support told me i can have a new heatbed if i want, but no guarantee that it is better or worse then my banana bed. At this point i will wait if they get their beds straight or someone comes up with a cnc‘d solution
Super Curious here as well… Heat transfer, how quick does it heat up and cool down? I print a log of PETG and quick cool down times are great for it to poop off the plate without damaging things. .
