Website Performance

For approximately six weeks, I’ve observed consistent performance issues with the website. These issues manifest as the website becoming unresponsive or requests taking an unusually long time to process. Interestingly, using a VPN sometimes alleviates these problems, which leads me to question the extent to which they are associated with Makerworld. I’m aware that certain services or data centers have suboptimal connections with some internet providers, potentially causing traffic routing complications.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

I don’t tend to hop around VPN’s and what not, so I see pretty consistent performance from the website. Basically I’ve not seen any performance issues at all and I’m on there just about every day.

Not surprised that you can see differences in performance when using a VPN. A VPN may put you into a different geo location and connect you to a different server in that region. You are also literally taking a different route to get there, so any issues along the way could be better or worse depending on the path taken. You could trace the route to their server you are connecting to. Might highlight an issue, such as a peering issue between your ISP and another.

I’ve never once had issues with Makerworld. Your route to them could be an issue and that is why a VPN can fix your issue. Sadly, this is not a Makerworld problem to fix, but something your ISP needs to look into.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It’s not ISPs issue.

I have had the same problems as you have. Today has actually been the worst, and I’m getting errors from “Cloudflare”. It times out after around 30 seconds, then I can refresh it, and after 15 seconds or so it will finally load. It isn’t everyday, it is only every so often on the weekends. I imagine the website is getting overloaded. I’m from VA, so maybe the servers I’m going through are getting overloaded.

yeah probably maintenance issues who knows

First, they change the theme. After we were waiting to publish. Now, server are down. This contest seems to start with a wrong foot.

Today I have error 504 on makerworld. Time to time I can read something succesfully, but it takes very long. Yes, it is not ISPs issue. I test my speed - it is cca 900/300Mbit, ping 5-8ms (Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test). Other websites, streaming and other networking works well.

Was für ein Blödsinn ist das hier?

Die Seiten von Bambulab sind extrem langsam und ich kann mich nicht mit einer IP aus Deutschland anmelden.

Dreht eure Regierung jetzt durch oder was ist los?

Websites are indeed giving you the trouble it seems and I can easily connect with that. I, however, have not run into the same problems myself, but I found your point about the VPN service possibly being an improvement to the puzzle very interesting. There are indications that some connection-related problems might exist, particularly if some services are having issues with particular ISPs. Have the remaining folks seen and noticed the not so different behavior or have found working with the alternatives? It might be valuable to get more input from the followers out there to figure out if this is a problem that everyone is having or just a specific area.

Over the past 8–10 weeks, the situation has worsened significantly. I’ve found myself unable to use the site during evening hours. I’m skeptical that Bambu Lab can resolve this unless they reconsider using Cloudflare.

From what I understand, the issue lies with Cloudflare’s routing, particularly in Germany. Apparently, Cloudflare requested fees from providers like Deutsche Telekom to connect directly to their network, but Deutsche Telekom declined. As a result, traffic from Deutsche Telekom’s customers is routed through less favorable paths, often via US servers, and is deprioritized. This leads to especially poor performance during evening hours when US traffic is high.

To work around this, I’ve been using a VPN, which has made the site usable again without any issues—no need to even switch countries. Since this doesn’t appear to be an issue Bambu Lab can address, please consider this matter closed.

thanks for the info, I was wondering why just this website was incredible slow, now I get it.

its been very slow for me as well … when i scroll down every time there is a new page loading it takes about 5-10 sec to load the new page… this is a nightmare to me and makes me go back to prusa’s website to find models as its faster… scrolling down pages on prusa there is no lagg or waiting time its instant
