I just noticed that my youtube assembly instructions have vanished off of Makerworld and I can’t add it back. Is video gone forever? It was a huge amount of work to edit video instructions so it kind of sucks to lose the benefits.
I added a YouTube video to my post yesterday.
Direct link.
Think you missed this.
Yep, that was on me.
I am blaming my one ‘good’ eye, it only works around 80% on a good day and I wake up blind.
Unfortunately, not joking aside…
@Murata_Industries is there a link to the location that had the video (or has that gone as well) and your YouTube video?
I can see the embedded video in the editing window but after publishing it gets removed.
Sorry for the delay getting back to you.
I can add YOUR YouTube video to my models.
Take a look, I added it to one of my earliest models that no one will ever care about.
My steps (almost certainly identical to yours)
- Edit the model
- Locate a suitable position in the editing window
- Press the Video Embed toolbar Icon
- Paste your URL
- Confirm
- The video is shown with the other content as a playable video.
- Publish the model changes
- Locate and view the published model page.
I think the solution is to use the long path and not the YouTube short url not the abbreviated version. I just tested and it didn’t like YouTube.be version.
I’ve been trying with exactly the link that Malc used. I’ve tried pasting the link and I’ve tried using the embed video feature. In both cases it looks fine in the editor window, but when I publish there’s nothing there.
I seem to have got it working now. I went to a different windows computer and made the edits and it showed up. Not sure if it was the computer or something else that changed.
On further research, I think you’re absolutely right. My original links were using youtu.be style share links
