What happened to my 0.2mm nozzle?

I’ve only used this nozzle a handful of times since I bought it, but yesterday I noticed this has happened at some point? I’m not sure what’s going on, leakage? I don’t remember any collisions and I’ve certainly always switched nozzle size on the printer and in studio whenever I’ve used it.

It actually looks like it’s bent now, too? worth saving?

looks like the heatbreak cracked & it’s leaking filament.

I would say no. Not because it’s bent but because it’s pretty caked in filament and it’s probably still leaking. I recently replaced all my hotends with Revos and when I did I noticed that all my Bambu hotends were bent. I’m not sure hot it happened either.

Honestly, that was my next thought. Do I get the Panda Revo? Only thing I don’t like is they don’t offer a 0.2mm nozzle, so I’m thinking of going for the Mako instead, even though swapping nozzles is a bit more involved with that one hmmm

p.s also had issues with my 0.4mm BL hotend bending last year and I had to get a new one

I put them on 3X XICs and 1X P1S and I really like them. I have Revo hotends on several other non-Bambu printers so I really wanted to use my nozzle collection on the Bambus too. They don’t have a .2 but they do have a .25 and a .15 available.

What happens when you go to print? BL only has options for 0.2mm

There’s a page on the E3D site that has recommendations for the flow rate, line width and layer height for all their nozzles. As long as you change the line width and layer height in whichever print profile you’re using you’re good to go.

Here’s the page for the high flow models:

Here’s the flow rates for all their nozzles:

I was just reading on Reddit that if you use the correct settings for the smaller nozzle and set the printer itself to .25 it will warn you but you can hit ignore.

I’m at work right now but when I get home tonight I can try a benchy with a .25 and let you know if it’s that simple.

Ah that’s good to hear, yeah I was reading about it last night too and some were saying it a pain to do it but it does work, others were recommending using Orca etc

With the Mako Hotend they have even-numbered nozzles, but you need to use a torque wrench to swap them, which I don’t really like the sound of as it’ll be constantly putting pressure on the hotend fitment bracket…

Anyone in here running a Mako?

That torque wrench is like only 2lbs. Nothing to worry about.

I don’t think so, or they haven’t mentioned it if they are. I saw a post where Bambu was giving some away but I haven’t seen anyone actually mention having one.

Yeah 1.5nm I think it is, they sell you one that looks pretty neat, but they want $30 for it :smiling_face_with_tear:

Wouldn’t mind so much if it also had a 2.5nm setting that my Prusa Mini+ uses

Look for bike torque wrenches. May or may not be cheaper.

I have the one they show, from my Neptune 3 Pro days. It’s solid, but not worth the money. I’ve only kept it becasue…well you never know.

I actually bought one off amazon the other day for £22, it was fully adjustable, but none of my 1/4 inch sockets would fit on it, it was like the tolerance was totally out, so I had to return it. I could get another brand, but I’m thinking maybe just get the Mako one as it’s designed for nozzles and looks easy to use. Maybe a bigger wrench, held at 90 degree angle to the hotend would be awkward and could cause a cross-thread. Hmm, I think I should just pay up for the Mako one, it looks very handy in terms of size and ease of use

Just an update, I’ve lost my mind and ordered the Mako hotend, with extra 0.2mm, 0.6mm nozzles, the torque wrench, and a spare boot. I figured I needed a new 0.2mm hotend anyway, plus my 0.4mm is a bit worse for wear, so if I wanted three (0.2, 0.4, 0.6) BL hotends the price wouldn’t be too far off what I’m paying for the Mako kit.

Only issue now is the 4-6 week backorder wait :smiling_face_with_tear:

I’m sure there are plenty who would love to hear about it whenever you get it.

Yeah for sure I will, I can’t wait haha. although my brain is already creating disasters like nozzles not unscrewing once they’ve been used a while :sob:

Nah. I may not be a fan of Slice but they do make quality machined products. It’ll be fine and should last quite awhile.

Surely filament will build up in the nozzle though and eventually make them difficult to remove?

Maybe one day Revo will release a 0.2mm :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah.
