I’ve just discovered that all of my uploaded designs have been automatically updated from v1 of Bambu Studio to v2.
The problem with this is that the majority of people are still using v1 of Bambu Studio or an alternative slicer that handles the Bambu implementation of .3MF
Anyone downloading a v2 print profile will lose everything the designer placed in the original v1 profile they designed except the basic geometry - so colour changes are gone, as are height range modifiers etc.
This is a phenomenally daft idea and is going to cause havoc. I suspect a lot of us designers have a lot of 1 star reviews coming our way through no fault of our own. The average end user of MakerWorld will not understand why their print looks nothing like the one the designer orginally posted.
@MakerWorld @SupportAssistant is this a fact ?
and how this will this be corrected, as far i can not check my uploaded profile due to your automated point redemption system will flag that as self download (attempt of cheating)
because i just received a bad review on one of my well made popular print profile, User stating a failure mid print, the user was really upset giving out a really negative review due to the fact the print takes about 16 hours.
I had a problem. I opened with v.2 two of the 3mf files I created with the v1. The pieces were all cloned and stayed one on top of the other. I understood that because the print that before took 2 hours then took 4 hours and gave problems.
So i checked in the list and all the pieces in the beds were doubled. But you couldn’t see the problem if you didn’t check the list. I opened a second different file. Same thing @MakerWorld
I don’t know if my explanation was clear, I hope so.
This can be in some cases what is causing the prints to be difficult and very long.
It gets worse.
I’ve just “upgraded” to v2.0.1.50. Whilst my uploaded designs now download and slice with colours intact, there are other issues.
- The new prime tower that seems to cover about a quarter of the build plate now conflicts with every single design I’ve ever uploaded.
- I make use of height range modifiers, and they are now missing in action which is adding over an hour to print time.
I really don’t know what to do now. There is no way that I am going to create over 150 new print profiles for my pre-existing designs that worked perfectly yesterday but are now all broken today thanks to a bone-headed decision by MakerWorld.
At this point, my only real options are to remove every design I’ve ever uploaded or revise the print profiles and reupload them. I’m heavily leaning towards the former at this point.
Has the option to download bs beta been removed ?
i was given that choice for new v.2 model recently , but studio got some fixes since (2.01.50) , some release notes
Note: Bambu Studio 2.0 represents a significant upgrade over the previous 1.x series. Due to the introduction of an entirely new workflow and features, 3MF files generated by version 2.0 can only load geometry data in older versions of Bambu Studio. To fully experience the new features, we recommend that users upgrade to version 2.0 as soon as possible.
Features
There ist another problem with BambuStudio 2.x… It gernerates other supports, my uploads placed at an 45 degree angel fail now because it generates less support, so i have to add manual support and reupload…
Ah, that could be the reason why already two people in the last days had to add more supports to a piece of my model that didn’t need those before
Thanks for reporting this issue. We are focusing on solving it at the highest priority.
And until this fix, what shall we do? Are we allowed to check our own files by downloading the print profiles? Beside of the fact, that designers should ALWAYS be able to download their own files for checking without any negative consequences!
I always download my profiles to check and when I want to print them too. No problem. MW will only count 1 download and 1 print for model (not profile) and that’s all.
There are not negative consequences downloading own profiles.
For now, it is suggested to upgrade your Bambu Studio to v2.0.
Unfortunately that is not correct. There were designers who got trouble at gift card review because of downloading their own print profiles.
Therefore there is the wish, that downloading own models/profile does NOT count for any stats.
You’ve managed to completely miss the point. I already have upgraded to v2.0, the problem is that your auto re-slicing of pre-existing designs has introduced many issues. In my case, your new prime tower design now conflicts with many of my models meaning that the model and the prime tower will merge if the model is printed. On top of that, your auto re-slicing has removed the layer modifiers I had applied which have increased printing time by around 10-15%.
Not my experience. I have never had problems at gift cards reviews. And I download all my profiles to check them after uploading. And I print from them when I need another copy of the model printed.
For confirmation just ask directly to MW. Maybe something else was involved with those negative card reviews.
I am using v2, but this has nothing to do with the bugs in the existing print profiles. I was asking, how we can check and fix our published print profiles.
For me it is the same:
- Different type of supports
- Supports where they are not needed
- Much more filament in the wipe tower (not needed, most of the purge was in the infill)
- And worst of all: conflicting gcode paths???
It is not really about checking ourselves (some people have hundreds of models/print profiles) or being able to update the profiles ourselves (again some people have hundreds of models/print profiles). The most important thing is: will this be fixed automatically?
Meaning: Will the print profile shown above be reverted to the support type I tested and the classic wipe tower that does not conflict and uses less filament?
And in the meantime, if users waste filament on bricked print profiles and rate poorly, can we remove those reviews? (and yes I know, this still is a pain for users, but that should not reflect on designers)
about six months ago, i got points deducted from my account due to having likes on my own uploads once its up there, after an argument with MW staff explaining to them that likes does not affect my uploads points wise, they replied with likes and downloads are considered as an attempt to cheat (although in my opinion a like is only 1 like, which i can not make a second like but downloads can be multiplied) anyway since then i stopped touching my stuff (no pun intended) just to avoid any complications while redeeming my points.
thank you for the info maybe they changed things around but i will give it a try incase i decided to upgrade to V2, i would hate to revisit things if the fault was not mine i have a couple of 16, 18 and +24 hours prints which will be material consuming to retest just to make sure it prints fine.
Check if the parts are multiplied. This is what happened to me. The app duplicated the parts and put 0ne piece on top of the other (so it wasn’t visible if you didn’t check the list of objects or moved the parts). It generates these kind of conflicts and longer prints. Try moving the piece and in case there is a second one, delete it.
