What's a good list of H2D spares to keep on hand?

Given how often parts are out of stock on the Bambulab US online store, and considerably lead times for them to come back into stock, what’s a good list of parts to buy when they’re available to keep on hand? Here’s my start for a list:

  1. Silicon covers
  2. Extra hot-end in whatever nozzle diameters you may ever want to use.
  3. The ooze guard (or whatever it’s called). Mine got bent when I attempted to finish a print after a power failure. I managed to bend it back into place, but having an extra on hand may not be a bad idea if it were to ever to get severely bent beyond recognition?
  4. PTFE tube? If I’m not mistaken, it’s considered a consumable. It has a star shaped interior, so maybe Bambulab is the only source for it?
  5. Extruder? I kept an extra on my X1C for instant Blob of Death recovery, but I’m unsure whether or not it would be needed for the H2D, as I’ve never had a Blob of Death experience on the H2D, and maybe the safeguards would prevent it from ruining the extruder. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Please post suggestions for whatever else should be on the list.

Heaters assembly’s, silicone socks, purge wipers (when they are available to buy). Extruder gear, filament guide, cutters, buffers. Ooze blocker like you mentioned. I also happened to pick up the cam for the nozzle switching, idlers, cutter levers. I stocked up on a ton of the cheaper priced tool head items to ensure if something breaks, I have it on hand.

Do the buffers wear out or something? I know almost nothing about them.

I got one of each belt just in case.

I would include the heating elements (and probably hotend seats) into the stock.
Bambu might replace them for you if it’s on their fault, but keeping a working part stock is always nice.

All of the ones mentioned are good. In addition you might want these items:

  1. Dual Extruder Filament Guide, cheap and good to have.
  2. Toolhead Front Cover, although it can run fine without it just a cosmetic item.
  3. USB-C Cable, it eventually fails due to flexing.
  4. TH board can fail after many (5000+) hours.

This is from my previous experience with high milage P1s and X1.

PS: You might want to grab lots of silicone socks, they tend to rip between the holes quite often. I bought a 40 pack from aliexpress.

What are hotend “seats”? I tried searching for seat in the bambulab online store, but got zero hits:

Official name is Hotend Heating Assembly

Seat is the metal part that provides a seatbelt for your hotend :stuck_out_tongue: (I borrowed this name from someone else and I find it quite straightforward…)

Wow I need to get that 40 pack. The silcon socks on my A1mini seem to rip easily. I have been 2 packs so far from Bambu.

depends. some of them do show premature fails and wearouts. I would suggest one to move the toolhead to each of the 4 corners and check whether the ptfe tube is bending the buffer and extruder inlet too much. If so try optimise the ptfe path, give it a couple more centimeters for example. I replaced mine with a tube that is ~4cm extra long than the stock, because my stock tube would make the buffer bump really hard when it’s reaching the front left corner.

Revision: Official name for ooze guard is actually “flow blocker”:

I figured that’s what you probably meant. Like you said, it seems to only be available as the full assembly:

I didn’t see a 40 pack (at least not immediately) but I did find a 20 pack. Are you finding that the aliexpress silicone sock quality equally as good as Bambulab’s OEM H2D silicone socks?

I’ve become more aggressive in replacing my silicone socks, as they tend to accumulate filament bits, which it seems may(?) start contributing to build-up of crud on and around the nozzle. Especially given the low aliexpress price, I think I’d be more inclined to more often toss them out pre-emptively as a cheap consumable rather than scrape the inside clean and wait for failure.

Yeah, but considering this part (the whole heating assembly) has some thin cables that might easily break, I would consider to have at least a pair of them in the stock.

At this point it might be cheaper to buy an extra H2D and then just buy parts for them as they break, lol

Yes it was just two 20 packs I purchased. They seem to be good quality, identical to OEM minus the Bambu Lab markings. One of the few “aliexpress” items Im willing to use together with build plates.
