Where are we at with Cabinet Temperature?

Hi all, I’ve had my P1S for almost a week now & have had nothing but success! Coming from a heavily modded CR-10S, this thing is amazing!
First Q: after searching through forums & github chat, I can’t seem to find a conclusive answer on how the cabinet temperature is reported or user controlled with fan settings. I see that it’s implemented in a hard coded way, but it would be nice to see a user-friendly implementation of its control in the interface - just like the comprehensive control of the rest of the system.
How does one enable the reporting of the cabinet temp - should it appear here?

P1P/P1S lack the required temperature sensor. However, you could use a 24v one of these to read the temperature and control the chamber fan:

A nice solution but not the elegant one I’m looking for. Is adding a temperature sensor to the existing system not viable? All the other elements to add fairly basic chamber monitoring & control are already there.

I believe not. And anyway, the X1C doesn’t regulate the temperature as you think it might. It doesn’t have a temperature setting, you just control the fan speed depending on the filament selected. And with a fully enclosed P1 or X1 you’ll only get to 45-50°c max and even then, the X1 states to open the door or top when printing filaments that might soften at lower temps i.e. PLA.
