I was using a 512 GB USB stick for my H2D for about 1000 h of printing. Now I upgraded it to the H2C, which includes the exchange of the AP board, where the USB port is connected to.
Now the printer does not accept this exact same USB stick anymore. The Bambu support tells me that there is something belonging to the firmware, which causes this stick not to be supported.
As soon as I plug it in, the H2C wants to re-format it in an endless loop.
Unfortunately the support seems to be unable to tell me which maximum size is supported by the H2C.
Could you maybe leave a comment on which size your USB stick has for the H2C (only H2C comments please, since H2D and probably H2S may have different limits).
In case your USB stick is bigger than 128 GB cloud please add the brand and model name?
Stupid question but did you nuke that USB stick since doing the H2C upgrade? I would imagine it wants be clean slate and not some other cousin-printer’s files and config on it.
There’s another thread to look for around here where people were recommending the USB drive based off the HEAT TOLERANCE which might be more important depending how much chamber heat you do
I formatted the USB stick multiple times. I run the format via the H2C display. I formatted it on my PC to FAT32 and exFAT (with different sector sizes).
Nothing helped, as soon as I plug it into the H2C it instantly throws an error and wants to reformat it. If I let it format the stick, it tells me afterwards that the stick must be formatted.
If I take a smaller USB stick it works, but since I want to store Timelapse videos, I would like to have a stick as large as possible.
The stick I am using is a Patriot Supersonic Rage Prime 500 GB USB stick. It did run for like 1000h with a lot of time printing at 65 degrees chamber temperature. I never had any issue until I upgraded to the H2C. And as said the Bambu support acknowledged that there is some firmware issue applying to the H2C but not to the H2D. They did say, they want to change it. But not until when it will be a available.
Will these larger USB sticks allow you to have more than 8 models on the history screen from the printer’s control panel? (EDIT Assuming it’s the same as the H2D, i am not sure about the H2C. Mainly highjacking this thread to ask about the H2D! Sorry!)
I have over 1000 hours, and the history of all my models and timelapses from day one can fit with room to spare on 512GB “H2D upgraded to H2C” if that makes a difference
@maxim3D Thank you for the hint with the GPT, I was using MBR. But unfortunately it does not change anything for me. But interesting that you can use 256 GB on an H2C while my 500 GB do not work.
My only thought of why the usb drive i use works as 512gb is maybe because Bambu sells the same “model” in their store just with lower storage so its more “optimized” but that should not make a difference.
I think I may have found a potential issue. The Patriot Stick is recognized as SCSI DRIVE in Windows. While another smaller SanDisk stick I have is shown as USB STORE. So maybe my bigger stick has another driver class, than the Samsung and SanDisk sticks and this driver class has an issue on the H2C. But has already been fixed on the H2D.
@just4memike unfortunately with my stick it does not even work if I limit and format 64 GB GPT/exFAT or 32 GB GPT or MBR FAT32. I think it may be related to that SCSI thing.
Low profile so you can barely tell they are there and they are from SanDisk so of course they are fast and reliable.
Cant believe that some of yall are running 500 gb. I have barely broken the surface on the 128 gbs that I have been running. I guess some of us like time-lapse more than others.
On my h2d if you use the printer’s control panel (not the slicer) only the last 8 models can printed. From the slicer you can indeed print all models as you say,
Agree strongly, seems a waste, I feed my A1’s 16gb cards and they do just fine. I’ve only had one incident of full storage and it was when i forgot to disable video for like a month. I’ve had plenty of sd-card death incidents in the same timeframe though, of unknown and uninvestigated causes. Woulda been real mad if they were 500GB cards.
