Why does this slice this way? Text not printing

Text is embossed .4 and I’m printing at .16 layer height. .4 nozzle. H2c. I’ve included the .3mf from Bambu Studio if anyone wants to take a look.

I’ve played with Arachne and Classic, Thin walls, etc, but just can’t find away. I would kind of like to stay with classic.

I was think maybe I need to do some debossing and then emboss to make the letters inside instead of just embossing. I first had them flush with the external surface, but the sample print didn’t look so good.

I’ve never had luck with letters unless I import them as a separate body in an stl file 3mf would always look like that for me when flush. If your using fusion, I’ve also had to cut the body then go back and extrude it piece by piece as a new body.

It was modeled in fusion and I export as step. The attached 3mf was just Bambu studio file for people to see for themselves.

I will play with exporting the text separately as step and stl. Worth a shot.

Thanks, Cody

Export the whole thing as a stp, not just the text. 3mf does not seem to see inlayed bodies as cutouts. It tries to put both colors in the same spot.

This is what I was doing and thought was always best practice. I export from Fusion as .step (or .stp same thing) then I would “Split” into objects if i needed to do anything in the slicer with the parts. In this case color the individual text.

This is it. In Fusion I exported the text as an .stl and then I exported the rest of the item as a separate .stl. In Bambu Studio I loaded both .stl files at the same time.

This was night and day different.

I though .stl was inferior to .step and haven’t used for a long time. I dont understand it, but will remember next time i’m printing things with text. Thanks, piefairy

Solved? Cool. I was about to post this example, in case it helped. Make flush prints - #23 by MaxThreeD

With STEP import into Studio, the number of triangles created (the resolution) is going to make a big difference. Personally I find the two sliders in Studio to be inadequate to determine the proper resolution, and prefer to create the exported mesh in Fusion, where I can get a preview and more controls (“Save as Mesh”). Also simpler to recreate since the export settings are saved per project. Contrary to sometimes-popular belief, all the slicer does with a STEP is convert it into a triangle mesh anyway (same as STL and 3MF), then slices using the mesh.
