There are always problems, the trick is not to let the problems overwhelm you and not to go to everyone straight away. People who run companies are not people who found startups - because they can’t. People who start startups are not really people who run companies over a longer period of time, which they usually can’t do. Jack Ma’s experience with IT is very limited, but he can lead people and knows where to do what and when. He’s one of the very few who can continue to run a startup… not that I like everything he’s doing now, but he can do something that only very few can do. And probably the first person how proved himself in today’s strategy changes from a global perspective starting from a startup away.
Many people see this as a problem, but for me there is no problem. Look at the operating hours - an X1C in permanent operation, how big is the output? What is the benefit of reducing the downtime hours due to a color change over the total output?
Downtime due to defects is dangerous. If your printer only lasts 4 hours because of a defect it is almost impossible to get it back, and on the other hand the last thing that interests me is the color change. Changing materials, yes, that interests me. Maybe I’m interested in the color change when attaching information on a part, but that only happens in 3-4 layers, well then it just takes longer.
Planes, trucks, ships - only in very few cases you want the fastest ones, but you always want the ones with the fewest interruptions in service with the greatest possible reliability. Sure, at the beginning you take the cheapest one - but as soon as you have time to do the math, you take the one with the higher profit. Color changes can be calculated and added to the price; it may or may not be worthwhile, but it can be estimated - failures and maintenance times cannot be calculated (at least not in 3D printing, but that has improved dramatically in the last 2 years) and are very dangerous for profits.
So the AMS light is not interesting because it can change color faster, it is interesting because of the accessibility in maintenance and way it do not fit on a X1C? That is also a statement.
But your view is also absolutely correct - we are just 2 different customers with different requirements. Bambulab has to decide which customer they want and not constantly jump back and forth and think that they have to be number 1 in all areas. Because then I no longer know whether the next push is for me or you and if in doubt, just leave it since this is also an incalculable risks. And i do not like risks at all, it`s just disturbing my math
In my private and business life there is only one thing that annoys me: If a print takes 2 days (due to color change) it is calculated and predictable. Especially in private life, the printer will spend a lot more time standing around than printing - so why does it have to print even faster? But if it takes 6 days for a 2 days print because 6 times since remains (poops) were not properly shot out, the printer waited for me for half a day 6 times and I’m still expected to see an app… Basically I don’t want a 3D printer at all - I want the parts that come out of the printer and this is as calculable as possible, because there are also others who can print for me.
