Well greater flow, a better heater, extremely easy nozzle changes, and never having to deal with those crappy delicate wiring connectors again sold it for me. I got it on pre-sale and already have a set of Revo nozzles from my previous printer, so it was an easy decision.
Call me crazy, many have, but I’d be willing to bet the larger Bambu will be a bedslinger. Just a thought.
Why? Because they’re cheaper than a corexy of the same build volume?
Yeah, and we started the slingers with a mini, then a regular…just feels like they’d go that route.
I do imagine a core XY that’s bigger at some point.
I always lose with the Bambu Lab bets - but I would say you will win anyway… And if so they will remain as long as the X1 is not overhauled and then they will fight for survival in the pure hobby area. But the demands of private users is also increasing. The advantages and disadvantages of the X1 over the P1P or P1S are now known to many so this costumers don’t need anyone to explain it to them anymore and will tell it to many persons… Can weigh there needs to the offers better from day to day. Will start slowly, quickly reach there limits and will ask for more as everyone how ever get into 3D printing…
But ones more, I always lose with the Bambu Lab bets. The only difference now - It no longer matters so much what they do and I can take it as it will happen. So I`m deeply relaxed Maybe they still have an other iron in the fire to learn. But if that doesn’t work, they will have a hard time ever putting an iron in the fire again.
I thought that the larger the print bed, the less suitable a bedslinger was.
We know that there is a new “flagship” printer due (almost certainly this year - although the A1 bed’s situation will have caused a delay). What we don’t know is quite what it will be.
There was something from BL saying that the new printer won’t simply be a larger X1 - that wouldn’t be pushing the envelope enough, and they wanted to go further. From that, I would infer that it won’t simply be a bigger A1 - for the same reason as they gave for not simply making an X1-XL, and additionally the difficulty some of us would have in accepting a larger A1 as being more premium than the X1.
Me, I would like to see another Core-XY (IME, they take up less space and cause less fuss than bedslingers). I would expect it to be larger. It might have a more reliable (or larger) AMS filament handling accessory - although I’d rather not see my current AMS units made obsolete just yet! But what I really hope for is a larger Core X-Y machine with two hot-swappable toolheads (like the Prusa XL, only better obviously).
For me, the issue with multicolour printing using an AMS is not the purge volume, but the fact that each filament swap requires a pause in the printing while filament is retracted, rewound, new filament spooled to the tool head, and purged. Imagine if tool head A could be printing with one colour while tool head B unloaded its previous colour, swapped in a new colour, purged the filament and was ready to go just as soon as tool head A finished with its printing (and while tool head B gets to work printing the new colour, A would unload and reload to a new colour). With some of my regular prints taking 3+ days, I reckon that something capable of doing what I would like it to would knock at least a day off the printing time! And for that I would cheerfully pay double the cost of the X1C.
It already exists. Proforge 4.1. It was a kickstarter, and they delivered. You can still buy one. Talk is cheap, but what you’re asking for will obviously cost more… and it certainly does cost more. Are you OK with that? If not, then this is just magical thinking.
Did you read the bit where I said I’d pay double the cost of the X1C? Which is pretty much exactly where the Proforge is.
Except the Proforge is the usual open source, designed in someone’s basement, home robotics kit typical 3D printer, as opposed to something that looks and performs like a modern appliance.
I doubt that Bambu will release something costing too much north of £2,000, and they’ve already shown how they can deliver a slicker product than their competitors for less money on a £-per-feature basis.
But neither of us know what BL will do next. A giant bedslinger seems very, very unlikely to me though.
My sincere apologies. I missed your last sentence. Ashes on my head.
From the sound of it, you and I are looking for the same thing.
I personally think that to truly be over the top, I am guessing that BL will be the first reliable, hobbyist, 4 or 5 axis printer to the market. Guessing they will start with the higher end market first like the X1C. This will change printing hugely. I am not sure if you have seen any videos on the more axis machines or not. If you haven’t check them out on YouTube. I also want to thank those that are on YouTube that are messing around with this
Hi Everyone,
We have end of april now, so do You think are there any chance for new BL’s flagship up to the summer?
My guess is that BL will release the 2024 flagship sometime in late fall to early winter, for a couple reasons:
-
We haven’t seen even a teaser yet halfway through the year, and I think BL would at least give some hints to retain possible customers before they buy from another company.
-
Wintertime is prime 3d printing season for most people because of the weather, and a new flagship would make a great Christmas present. I think BL will release right around wintertime to leverage these factors.
Well LinkDesigns,
The only thing that is certain is that nothing is certain at all. And especially Bambulab has never delivered as expected. The surprise was always there when the curtain went up. Private customers like this. Professional customers always hate any surprises - they like to minimise risk by calculation.
The machine gun barrel unexpectedly overheated as well - A1 cannot be solved overnight requires time and financial resources. Correcting something requires esaly 10 times more energy than to do something new. Companies in the market are never led by people who found startups. These are two completely different managing directors that are needed.
Reloading, i.e. the development time, 1-2 years before publication. In addition, a number of 3D printing manufacturers have made a huge false announcement in their scheduling - only one is running on schedule so there is no stress at all for anyone. And the one who delivers will not be able to quickly overtaken in his segment - contrary, they shine where Bambulab has failed for the last two years, reliable information for planning and customer support. But they also not will overtake Bambulab either… it will simply be something different.
guessing nothing yet? lmfao they are moving a TAD too slow on their flag ships tbh, kind of backwards business model. Can’t believe there hasn’t been an announcement and reveal yet at least. The fact there isn’t even a reveal means they wont even have anything to release in 2025 more than likely.
No one can know for sure, but it’s looking more and more likely you may be right. As a possible yardstick, consider how far in advance Creality announced K2 versus its projected ship date. Something like 3 or 4 months? Maybe longer in you count teasers?
That’s mostly why I said it. Since it was 4 months (and they moved fast. They had to wait for bambus release to even get started since it’s basically a copy lol. ) and they announced 4 months before shipping. So they’ll have about 4 months past the end of this year to ship lol.
Those still sitting on the bench waiting for the new and magical BL flagship launch, know that you might have a long wait period before you, and that you should keep an eye out on BL competitors, as Qidi has launched Plus 4 and according to the reviews (one coming fresh from our forum colleague @StreetSports) it seems to take the X1C experience even further. There seems to be some hiccups to overcome, but as said before, you may want to keep an eye on BL competitors as well. Sometimes it pays off .
Well, I still feel like I’m in 3D printing heaven.
Ok, it could always be better, but there are a million ways doing it worse.
Criality has to deliver more than once well just to get watch another video. Bambulab is on the same way to get there too. No matter what they do, they better take there time and if they deliver, then they better deliever well. Whether there is just any indication of a downgrade, QC issue or delievery problem at all - then they better keep it in (at least on my point of view).
I’m afraid the lawsuit may have left them tied up in their underwear. From the outside it’s simply unknowable what kind of delays in product launch that may have caused. We’re hearing nothing but silence, so naturally rumors of all sorts are starting to fly. They need a Steve Jobs type of guy who can show us a roadmap of where it’s headed, and when, or people will draw their own conclusions about that, right or wrong, and perhaps act accordingly.
I thought the Bambu CEO might be that type of guy, to some extent at least, but where is he? We haven’t heard much in a long time, now becoming a very long time.
I’m one of those people. If the Qidi Plus 4 already had its version of AMS available, I’d probably have made the purchase of that. However, it looks like it will end up being the same as the X1C/AMS in design which means it will suffer the same issues of slow filament changes. My hope was for the new flagship Bambu model to have solved this issue, similar to the A series, or eradicate the issue entirely with multiple toolheads but I really don’t know how much longer I can wait. One thing seems to be certain, if I cave and buy within the next month or so, it likely won’t be a Bambu machine. (Unless they surprise us and reveal the new model soon.)
