I am definitely interested in a fiew of them, count me in!
Count me in. Take my money.
I would be interested in one just for the Ethernet alone. Count me in
OK, I guess I am actually going to have to figure out how to manufacture this thing, then
The next prototype rev of the board should be coming sometime this week, and the next prototype rev of cable harnesses are a few weeks out. I am going to start talking to some potential distribution partners and I’ll see whether this thing can actually be economically produced and distributed or not. I have never sold hardware of my own before so I’m sure this is going to be quite a learning curve, and I suspect that I am going to end up losing quite a bit of money when all is said and done … but we’ll see what happens.
I’ll keep y’all up to date as I figure out more…
Ethernet alone would have you take my money. I have been looking in to adding status lights to my printer. Does the board supply 5v or 12v for lights?
Another thing I would possibly like to see implemented is controls for a Bento Box. I currently have mine set up to a smart plug to start when printing and stop after 15 minutes the print is done. This could be as simple as adding fan headers/through holes to supply power or something like that.
I know this is highly improbable, but finding a way to hide the board so there aren’t a ton of cables in the front would be awesome.
As for the costs: I think a kickstarter would be warranted in this situation. This would allow you to give updates easily and would help cover the costs.
Overall, awesome job with what you have so far! I just got my X1C about a week ago and have been enjoying it so far!
I want 4 boards !!! ;)))
How much current is delivered on the usb ports?
My $0.02? Go at this with a full business mindset. Get a website going to sell them, find a good source for components to either buy from and re-sell or dropship them for you. Accessories can come later, but my first thought after watching the video is: “I have to go do a bunch of research just to figure out how to add accessories or make them work?” Sell basic stuff like the humidity sensor, light sensor, light switch cables, it sounds like the possibilities are endless. As long as pricing is reasonable on the accessories, I would buy from you over digging for something cheaper because in my mind, you’ve tested it and know it works. It saves me a lot of trouble and potentially money in the long run.
First step, get the board going. Initially you can probably just ship them yourself but long term look for a manufacturer that is willing to sit on them and drop-ship them for you. Once you’ve got a handle on that, look into ways to bring common components into the mix that you can sell as “accessories”. If you do end up shipping everything yourself, you could create packaged kits that have the controller, humidity sensor, lighting cables etc.
Good luck! I would definitely use the ethernet aspect of it and would love to control additional lights but honestly won’t mess with the other stuff if I have to spend a bunch of time trying to figure out how to make them work. I have time for plug-and-play and that’s about it.
Where is the pre-order list, I want one. This will make an amazing machine even better!
pretty cool add-on. I would be interested as well.
Would be interested as well!
Would be interested as well!
I would totally buy one. I think you might get more sales and more money if the board could be located somewhere such that the i/o ports wouldn’t cause wire to hang in front of the printer.
It would also be nice to see chamber temperature mod controls from this via the firmware, screen and io ports. Probably not in scope but still would be sweet.
I’d buy one regardless.
I’d be interested for sure.
Definitely interested in something like this.
A feature set of mods I would most definitely buy into.
Im in…A heater in the ams controlled through that would also be awsome
Yes Please, I want one definitely
Very interested!!! Is there an ETA?
Do I want one? NO!
I want 3!
Please use this format to make the X1C operating system run on a P1S.
