You favorite/most satisfying filament

What is you favorite filament? Color, texture and brand.

Personally, my favorite is 3dhojor Matte grey. Never shows layer lines, doesnt change colors based on layer speed or thickness and has a very satisfying texture and color.

I would have posted this in the Bambu filaments section, but its not only for bambu filaments.

BL PLA Bronze

After I received it, I noticed it was nothing like the large printed swatch sample from the description page.

It is like the small square you select to choose it.

I would love what I thought I had bought, but I really like what turned up.

Weird, I know.

Great topic. :+1:I guess I would have to say that it’s split. For precession parts, I still prefer PC, the brand I found most cost-friendly and performance friendly was transparent PC from CC3D but that was before they cranked up the cost from $13 to now $29. They are officially off my list. I liked their Grey PETG still which is my go-to for structural parts that don’t require as much strength. That is still on my list at $13/spool. But recently in the PLA camp which is where most of my prototype printing still occurs, it’s whoever is the cheapest and right now, 3DHoJor black has taken the lead from Jayo at $13/spool.

I make a fair amount of boxes for electronics projects and tend to use BL matte desert tan or even matte latte brown for them. The finish is a nice satiny texture and looks more professional than the box probably is.

And updating - PETG HF is fantastic. Only printed in white so far but the outdoor capability and amazing print quality have me planning a number of other projects. PLA couldn’t take the heat and fades.

I’ve been getting some pretty good looking prints with the Anycubic gray filament, and it’s only $12 on amazon. a lot of the times it can be a hit or miss, so far I found it to be fairly consistent.

I’ll add a few of mine.
PLA:
eSun: Fire Engine Red
Ziro: Silver Black Silk
Ziro: Dark Gray
R3D: Carbon Fiber Black
Voxel: Ice Clear
Sunlu: White

If you’ve never tried any of these, they are worth a look.

With a few exceptions, nearly all my filament is Sunlu PLA. I second the White but also use a lot of their Black and Grey.

Out of the 5-6 Whites that I’ve tried, it is the only one that is truly White.

Yes, it is a very bright and clean white.

I really like the color of the Bambulab Ocean to Meadow filament, print turned out lovely:

The prusament galaxy black was surprisingly good as well. I didn’t expect much from it, but the looks, texture and the spool winding were perfect.

(yeah, I print planters with the filaments I like the most )

Planters are so satisfying to print

I’m currently printing a lot of Esun PETG solid white, once you get it dry and dialled it prints beautifully and makes some strong parts, also one of the whitest I’ve found makers other white look cream or grey. Here’s some speaker mounts I’m currently working on.

What is this model please?

The XL Planter @ 130% scale

That is indeed impressive. Can you share a link to the exact spool you used? If you also wouldn’t mind sharing your filament settings too.

I’m particularly impressed with how well dialed in the filament appears to be. What layer height did you use? The overhangs and top gradient are flawless. :+1:

For my main line of products I found BBL PLA Tough to be ideal… then they stopped it!

I switched to Polymaker PLA Pro and it works flawlessly on my A1 and P1S; however, it is expensive and impacts my margins.

Thank you, there are a couple of imperfections left to dial out the very top still has a small step on the last couple of layers and there are a couple of small irregularities in the hex.

I’m using a 0.4mm hardened steel nozzle and upgraded gears, textured PEI plate cleaned with iso alcohol after every couple of prints, layers are 0.2.

The filament is Esun PETG in solid white, this batch was purchased form 3djake as they are cheapest at the moment, used to buy from 3dfilaprint here in the uk but they have closed, also straight from Esuns Amazon store if it’s on sale. I try not to spend more than £12 a roll.

Here’s the settings I’m using. Oh the k value is 0.017 and tuning retraction and Zhop are a must otherwise it prints like ■■■■!

Edit: forgot to mention that I have enabled the developer mode in settings to get the advanced settings tabs so I could tune the seam gaps and other bits. I also make all my profiles from scratch using things I print to calibrate as I mainly print large prints with a 0.8 nozzle. As a confession I have never printed a benchy or calibration cube.
