You need to check out ETSY regularly

Actually, someone reached out to me on MakerWorld asking to buy a design I published under a “Maker World Exclusive License”.

I’d love to sell them the design just to experience what it’s like as I’ve never done this.

Do you know what Icm supposed to do or if I’m allowed to sell it to them while it’s under the exclusive maker world license?

Thanks,

Were they actually looking to buy the model or the right to sell prints?

If they want to sell physical prints, that can be done through Makerworld’s commercial license program or through another platform such as discord, while still maintaining the exclusive model on Makerworld.

If they are looking to purchase ownership of the digital file, I would expect at minimum you would need to remove the model from the exclusive program, but you would probably need to remove it from Makerworld as well, since the new owner may want to post it on Makerworld or somewhere else.

Check this tokopedia as well. Just found this account selling my models:

Lovely person, they wanted my source code :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I almost wish I didnt pop into this thread….

Ive been playing whack a mole since, my stuff is all over etsy.

This of course puts me in violation of the Makerworld terms. but thankfully they have been helpful ( so far ) in approving support.

Here is a boilerplate message you all can use to deal with such a situation without coming across as too aggressive, and maintaining a professional tone.

Hello,

I recently came across your listings and noticed that you are selling a number of my original 3D models and designs.

As the creator and copyright holder of these works, I require all authorized sellers to hold a valid commercial license issued directly by me. At this time, I have no record of your business holding such a license.

Could you please provide proof of your commercial license for these models?

If you are unable to provide a valid license, I ask that you immediately remove all of my designs from your store, listings, advertisements, and any related sales channels. I would prefer to resolve this matter directly and professionally before escalating it further through platform copyright enforcement procedures.

Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Now, I am working to develop some software for myself that documents release, proof of release etc, so that I have what I need in future violations.. I may release this to the public shortly, stay tuned there.

The odd part is based on the way 3d printed stuff provides any user your source files, I was luckly in that Makerworld accepted my screenshots as proof, because in reality any user with access to the source could in theory produce such “evidence” so I’m working on something that goes a lil further.

Hashes the original files, documents release dates, provides screenshots and in the end a solid PDF that proves ownership, release date etc.

Unfortunately that’s just one more step I guess I’ll have to do to release files on any platform…

I must say while I knew it would be an issue, I never imagined the scope of it… my stuff is literally all over the place, Etsy, facebook, Instagram… unbelievable.

someone made this for that eBay checking and reporting Chrome extension

Another nice guy selling prints from Makerworld on wallapop  :

Here’s someone with a nice collection of other people’s designs. I messaged him on Etsy and he claims that he has permission from all the designers to sell their designs. I reported the store, but I he doesn’t have any of my designs, you all might want to check for yours and report if needed.

How long does it take for a response from Etsy? I submitted a case on Saturday and it was approved, but it’s Tuesday and no response…
