So I ordered the new 3D effects bundle the other day and it turned up yesterday. Slightly annoying this set comes with 4 different patterns and only 1 steel plate, and even more comical is you can’t even buy an extra blank steel plate from the store
So are we supposed to dispose of them when we want to try a new design? Or is it to incentivise buying 2 bundles? Horrible business practice if so.
It shows an offer to purchase two sets together, explaining you will get two plates, giving you four sides, and allowing you to use all four sheets without needing to remove one (which I imagine wouldn’t go well).
I ordered from the stock notification email so it didn’t show me any of that, it just goes straight to basket/checkout.
So you get the double bundle I assume you get a spare set of sheets you prob won’t use? Or is the 20% discount to cover only getting the steel plate with the second bundle? It’s not all that clear tbh.
Also for people like me, (and I’m pretty sure that 20% deal wasn’t there when they first launched), it would be nice if you could buy a blank steel plate.
Yeah, that does happen. In order to request an email notification you would have done that from the product page.
I can’t say if the 20% deal was there, but, the other two bits of information were available.
That doesn’t mean I think it was obvious though. I AM agreeing with you on that.
I am just used to getting rolled, so, these days I triple check everything, only for two different deliveries being so bad it would be funny if it wasn’t negligent and insulting. One was from Bambu Lab.
I will be making an official complaint about it. I am known for my rants about poor service from BL.
So to be clear. I agree it needs to be clearer, that said, a triple-check would have explained it, it just shouldn’t take that, it should be easier.
Aye, but even checking now, and triple-checking again, it isn’t clear whether you get the sheets with the second bundle? it says two plates, four sides, well yeah 2 plates will have 4 sides. It doesn’t mention anything about getting a second lot of sheets too.
EDIT: I think I’m going to have to order that double bundle, keep the steel plate and sell the rest on eBay or something ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Hang on to the “extra” stickers. My understanding is that the 3D effects are created with a micro texture that is very delicate and easily damaged. Don’t expect a long sticker life.
I highly foresee them releasing a standalone [steel] plate after the combo sale and they gather some sale records. They tend to do this which allows them to source manufacturing and produce inventory if they see demand.
This is my speculation based on being within the manufacturing industry btw.
It is a weird item only being half-there, though its reasonably clear they are covering bases as a stopgap and probably feeling out the market. I’m not sure they’ll commit to the second plate as it had varied success with the application being a bit awkward with many people suffering failures.
I bought a set for both my X1 and Mini, and didn’t mind the missing plate as I had a couple of old sketchy Bambu ones gathering dust due to defects. The sheets applied to the X1 engineering and the Mini Hot smooth plates with no issue and all are working better than I expected.
Is there any Is there a place where we can buy a spring steel plate? It seems that Bambu does not have it, and the other plates elsewhere are not smooth.
There is a discount if you buy 2 kits. You’ll get 2 plates and an extra set of the sitckers. Since they can be damaged it’s not a terrible thing to have extras.
So not much you can do right now. They may in the future, who knows.
I get it, but it is what it is right now. With no other options on the market for a single plate there’s not much incentive to sell just one at the moment.
All of their plates are sheet-based right? So it would absolutely make sense sell blank plates and separate sheets for their other variants too. But that don’t make the $$$
