A1 Nozzle dragging on print, causing failure using .08 fine resolution

Do you mean that the last firmware version caused this? On my firsts prints i didnt appreciate it, but the update came so fast, i cannot remember it.

The nozzle is either scraping because there is too much plastic extruded per layer, first layer too high, bed isnā€™t level, something is loose affecting auto bed leveling or z isnā€™t moving enough to keep up with layer height.

Kind of need to figure out what issue you think it is out of those and then you can try and locate the cause.

Do you get nozzle dragging on the first layer?
Do you get nozzle dragging after only X layers?
Is there any upwards curling of plastic that causes nozzle drag?

Please disregard my previous post. All is working ok now. The issue was Iā€™ve swapped Bambu lab filament from PLA Metal to PLA Matt using original textured plate provided with A1 printer. Canā€™t believe but actually what I did I washed my textured plate under hot water and some washing fluid. Now this printer is working properly.

Itā€™s so simple but cures a lot of adhesion problems.

I also have this problem, even when enable z hop still not do much.
Zhop 0.4
A1 1.01.01.00
0.16
bed tem 65 60
Use outer brim
With big print like 300 to 400% size some of the time it will hit the infill at x layer that is when i use adaptive cubic, when i change to gyroid it become lesser but still sometime hit the infil.
With small print like flexi toy, which is the setting above just some of the file i use will hit the infill and drag the print even with outer brim. Other file is fine.

This was my issue!!! I had no idea what it could be and had given up hope and then I watched one of those little screws fall out on the build plateā€¦ Tracked down where it went and then I was back to printing normally again. Before I found it I was having the exact same issue as described in this thread!

Did you get any response or solution from bambulab?

This!!! Iā€™m trying to print complex miniatures and it does super well so long as there is only 1 subject. If thereā€™s two one will get knocked off the plate at some point in the middle. This happens with both the 0.2mm and 0.4mm nozzles.

I no longer have that problem for a long time now. Do a manual bed tramming first (was my problem), and a general recommended maintenance.

I have had my A1 for about a month. Prints were good until recent. In the last few minutes of a print, the walls sometime get real thin. Now in addition to this, when the print is less than a minute to finish, the nozzle buries itself into the print about 5 mm and tears the part of the plate. Print is ruined. Iā€™m at a loss. Itā€™s as if the print head gets lost as to where it is in space.

I am now having that same issue

I once had the same problem. It turned out that the nozzle wasnā€™t locked in properly when I changed it. the bed leveling always worked well. Only when he started to print, there was only a scratching noise and printing was not possible. So please take a look at the nozzle to see if it is locked correctly.

I was able to resolve this issue (prints too close to build plate) by tightening the screws behind the hotend. I had this issue with an A1 mini and tightening the 3 black screws behind the hotend resolved the problem.

I might be having this problem as well, I thought it was related to wall order, but it seems like the tip of the hot end is dragging near the seam on my tall thin build. No problem with the first layers tho.

Hereā€™s a small cross section I re-printed of the problem area

Full details here

This worked straight away thank you.

This procedure helped in my case:
A1 Series First Layer Print Issues - First Layer Too Low, Hotend Moving | Bambu Lab Wiki

Specifically, the Check the Hotend and Heater section. Four screws were completely loose after a few months of printing.

Iā€™m facing the same issue on my new printer (just a week old). It happens around the same height.

Just to complement: A1 combo, running latest firmware and bambu slicer lastest version (1.9.7.52).
Trying to use gyroid infill and uncheck ā€œreduce infill retractionā€ option right now, waiting for the result.

This resolved my issue. 5 of the 7 screws were loose.

Hi everyone,

my turn with that issue.
Firmware 01.03.01.00
Sunlu PLA+
Tried the Triangles infill since had the issue with an other type of infill.

  • I checked the screw behind the hotend, all good.
  • Did not need to do a bed tramming since the first layer calibration is perfect.

iā€™m kind of disapointed about that experience 2 weeks after purchasing this printer. I will try the Reduce infill retraction with a next print.
