AMS Slot 2 Gear Stuck

Hey guys,

Recently did a long print where slot 2 finished and then it auto-fininished the print with slot 4, since it was the same filament. That’s awesome… but… now slot 2 seems to be stuck. I can’t load anything into it. There seems to be a gear that prevents it from loading. Check this video that explains the problem better:

Typically, it is the driven roller which helps you unstick the feeder gear. Put a spool into that slot, and roll it forward and back until the roller unlocks. Please report back if this works for you?

Hi MiamiJerry,

I was super excited when I read this and immediately tried it out. But unfortunately didn’t work :frowning:

You will need to disassemble the AMS, and then the pre feeder.

I have a spare pre feeder for AMS 2 Pro, Later today I will look and see if I can design a tool to unlock the pre feeder in place without disassembly.

Using a 1.4mm drill rod, I am able to move the swing gears, both left and right gears to the engaged and disengaged positions.

Verify that the driven roller is seated properly. This link shows a picture of a roller that has lifted up.

Hey MiamiJerry
I have exactly that issue: the gear jumps up and locks the roller, and it can be unlocked using your technique.
Do you have a solution to prevent this from happening? It occurs quite often for me.

I describe the two solutions that I am testing in this thread,

I have not published them yet. So far they are both working. Please provide as much detail as you can on what you are expriencing? Are you using cardboard spools?
