ISSUE RESOLVED - PLEASE LOOK AT END OF POST
My P1P was working fine until this afternoon when I attempted to send a file over the cloud. When I did that, my printer got stuck at “Download 5%”. I power-cycled the printer then retried. Same exact issue. Power-cycled the printer. Same issue. Power-cycled the printer, then chose “Send”. This time, it get to “uploading file to SD card, 0.5KB/3KB” then immediately fails over to the above message. I attempted logging out of the printer, forgetting the network, disconnecting the printer from my account, uninstalling Bambu Studio, but nothing changed.
I can access the printer from the studio and phone. I can calibrate it, move the tool head, heat the bed, load the camera, etc. from the program, but I cannot send files in any fashion. I’ve also confirmed that the Bambu servers are not experiencing outages.
My assumptions:
- The OEM SD card is bad. However, I can still see files on it, and I can access them from the printer.
- Something else is causing my printer to reject an FTP/TLS connection.
I’m attempting to connect to the printer via WinSCP, but the “tutorial” on this site for how to do it isn’t very helpful at all, and I have no idea what the username and password it needs from me is. So I’m just stuck.
EDIT: In case you find yourself here and also didn’t know this, the password to your printer in WinSCP or FileZilla is the access code found on your printer’s screen.
EDIT 2: When transferring the file manually using WinSCP, it gets to 287KB, then gives me the following error:
Lost Connection:
Timeout detected. (control connection)
Copying files to remote side failed.
When attempting to transfer files from the SD card, there are no errors, and everything works as intended. It is specifically throwing errors when transferring files to the printer.
EDIT 3:
AndiS provided this link, however, it does not allow for full file transfers - stopping after about 80%, then closing the connection because it requires a client certificate. Unless I’m missing some vital step, I do not have a certificate to present to the server, and this connection will continue to be forcibly closed on me.
This is what I get when unchecking that box:
Lost Connection.
Server asks for authentication with a client certificate.
Transfer connection failed, closing
Copying files to remote side failed.
I can still print at the printer, meaning that the files already on the card can be printed manually, and files can still be downloaded from the printer, but no uploads to the printer are allowed currently. I don’t know what changed in the past few days, but it almost seems as if there is a security misconfiguration disallowing FTP transfers onto the printer - possibly caused by an update?
RESOLUTION
It was the SD Card.
Stupid solution to a very confusing problem. The SD card was experiencing Write failures, but not Read failures. This is why I could download and view files from the card, but was unable to create files/directories, delete them, or add them.
I forgot the golden rule: K.I.S.S.
