Exclusive Model Program - Helpful Copyright Support

Hey all, just wanted to share a notification I just received from MakerWorld.

Apparently a model of mine was stolen and uploaded on a different site and MakerWorld either found it or was notified of it and contacted me to let me know about a possible infringement.

I’m not sure how they detect it, but it’s accurate and I would not have seen this myself as I have never used Creality Cloud (or even known it to exist). Just wanted to share with you all since I haven’t seen anything like this before.

Edit: Here’s the offending user on Creality Cloud: Les Artistes STL's Profile | Creality Cloud

There are a ton of stolen models from designers here on MakerWorld, so I recommend checking for your stuff here.

That’s a lot of stolen models! Luckily none of mine were in this bunch. But I did find a stolen model of mine on the website:

Now I have to create an account to report? If there are 20 websites like these I need 20 accounts to protect my models.

Worst part is that both yours and my model are uploaded with a CC license allowing remixes, possibly creating infringements for designers that aren’t even aware these models are stolen.

But good on MakerWorld that they did ‘catch’ this, I do wonder how they did it though. If they are able to automatically scan other websites this might be huge for the exclusive program (which I wasn’t a big fan of)! Currently I have to scour the internet myself for infringements

Yeah creating an account to report is unfortunate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if MakerWorld auto-scanned other sites to look for copyright infringements. The message seems automated and it seems more logical to auto-scan than to have an employee manually search.

Oddly, my model doesn’t show up on the thief’s page, but the model page is still active (as of now).

The last time this happened to me, Printables removed it pretty quick, we’ll see how Creality Cloud is. Hopefully, I don’t need to use the Copyright Support from MakerWorld

Printables is pretty quick and thorough indeed. MakerWorld is extremely subjective with mostly not acknowledging infringements and rejecting copyright claims, but sometimes deleting models. So I assume Creality Cloud is somewhere in between or even less inclined to remove models, since everybody’s objective is to have the most and best models on their website.

I reported mine as well and we’ll see indeed!

I’m also curious about this - I’ve found items a few times using a reverse image search but that relies on the individual using the same images from the Makerworld post.

Regardless of the method, it’s good to see this!

I am really glad that Makerworld has conducted a search and informed you. Glad to see that they offer the exclusive protection to some users. Unfortunate to see that, again, not all users are treated the same.
A month ago i created a ticket about a model of mine being sold and even posted in the forum about it (topic with links here)and since then and until now i found the model in several more websites but makerworld doesn’t care. Guess i have to be one of those people with 30k/40k+ downloads for that to happen or i am not relevant for the platform in their eyes.

“Les Artiste” is quite prolific - Les Thief is more like it.

That’s amazing and I recognize a number of those.

He’s making Les Bank on other peoples’ work.

Mine was deleted the same day and OP’s model as well, so that’s quite fast action I think. Good on CrealityCloud. Not sure how they handle illegal remixes, but that’s for another day.

The thief’s profile is still active though, I will report the profile with links to the original models of their last 4 uploads. Let’s see how this goes!

I can recommend search engines like https://thangs.com . At thangs, you can also press the button “view related” in the search results to find similar models.

I reported the whole profile with three examples of stolen modes. Hopefully Creality does their job and removes the infringing models.

Haha, I just discovered this Creality Cloud platform, and it turns out there’s a stolen model of mine that’s been up for a year and a half!
It’s even ranked 45th all-time!
I’m not going to report it myself since I don’t want to create a Creality account just for that. If anyone is willing to report it, here’s the link: Cascade card wallet (Print-in-place) | 3D models download | Creality Cloud

I reported the John Wick mask and the shole profile for multiple copyright infringements.

Down already it seems. So Creality handles quickly when it concerns to single models but the profile that keeps on uploading stolen models seems to be ignored by them???

Let me start by saying that I printed some of them because I like them anyway.

I would like to understand one thing. I see so many Christmas trees all the same and all marked as “Exclusive Model”. What am I missing? I’ll give you just some examples, nothing against the creators, they are the first examples that I have come across but there are so many others:

Help me understand. Which is the exclusive model? Just change the dimensions and add a base to be exclusive? But in this case, wouldn’t it be a remix?

Million dollar question.

From a designer standpoint I think this is pretty amazing and this has been one of my concerns with talking with Nadia about artist protection and exclusivity.

The fact that if it’s exclusive to make a world and they do all the work and they protect you then I’m on board that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for I mean of course we have to worry about the ones that aren’t on major websites and in backdoor channels

So which model did he rip off?

Got another notification of my model being uploaded elsewhere, this time on MakerOnline.

Once again, I wouldn’t have found it on my own. The stolen model was uploaded on the 6th and detection caught it today, the 11th.

Very likely the other models are stolen (the model photos are also reversed), so check it out for your models: Makeronline: Download Free 3D Printing Models and Print Now

Can anyone tell me is you can set models you have already uploaded to “Exclusive Model”?

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, if you click the three dot menu and then “edit” you will see the slider towards the bottom to enter the exclusive program.

Thank you… The one model I was trying to update has some issue with it… I think it is because I remixed one or my own models… I see the slider in my other models
