Part of it argues that the designer hasn’t tested their work on a printer and must confirm it is successful.
The rules require photo evidence of a successful print. I would think that a designer creating a model to be 3D printed would also need to know that the model is printable.
I disagree with the tone used in the reply from @gcm, but, with that point, I agree.
There are those who think MW enforces the rules too harshly, and then there are those who think MW doen’t enforce enough. How about the following proposal for @MakerWorld?
For those who submitted ineligible models into the EM program from the very beginning before guidelines were more clarified:
A. For those who quickly submitted request to withdraw from the program, only take away the extra points which include two parts: the 25% more points and boost values, and points/boosts obtained due to the extra exposure. The second part will be calculated by MW based on data that they have.
B. For those who did not submit request to withdraw from the program, take away all points.
For those who submitted ineligible models to EM program after the clarified guidelines came out, take away all points.
You could create a ticket, but, I have a 16-day-old ticket for a whole printer that never arrived, tickets are not the solution here.
No one who entered before the rules changed was sent a notice to say “The rules changed, please review the rules as if our change makes your models invisible, you may withdraw them.”
It is great to to think this was a “clearing up of the rules”, it wasn’t they hadn’t thought it through, when they did, they changed the rules and gave no way to exit the program.
I noticed today MW has finally added a blocking information panel to clarify the rules before letting you join. Two months late on that on that basic communication.
MW and BL are notoriously bad at communicating and they compound that understanding every single time.
That’s what I meant by submitting a request to withdraw. It is a clear evidence that one didn’t want to take adavantage of the extra 25% points and boost value and the extra exposure. For those people, I think take away only the extras (two parts) is reasonable.
On the other hand, if one simply let the models sit there all these time without making any efforts to withdraw, then only take away the extras will not be enough. There has to be penalties in addition to the EM extras. Think about it: if the worst of getting caught is breaking even, then many will be doing it, because why not.
Based on what the forum members have said, it was hit-and-miss as to their ability to get models removed using a ticket.
This cannot be ignored.
TICKETS ARE NOT WORKING.
There should have been an amnesty, removing the models from the program in the first 90 days would also remove any extra earned points.
Bambu Lab keeps preaching they are in beta, but, that only serves as an excuse for their failures. This launch went as well as all other programs, badly, and they doubled down on punishments.
They made choices, they failed the launch, and they penalised the victims of their misinformation.
If you are talking about it now, with even more models excluded from their yet again revised list, which is at least the third list of disqualifying models. If anyone adds a model to the exclusive program based on the KNOWN information ahead of time, of course, they should be penalised.
If someone added a model between the second list and the increased third list and unluckily for them have their model now banned from the program, should they be penalised for changes they could not know about?
That would be dumb, it penalises the innocent.
Your premise is good if people have sufficient information ahead of them making a choice. The arguments on the forum are that when that knowledge is not shared, the users become victims.
Surely you understand the difference?
Knew the model would be banned - penalise them
Had no possible knowledge the model would be banned - remove them, even take the 25%, just do not steal the 100% in addition to the 25%.
Yeah I agree with following the rules about including photo evidence of successful print, I was asking why it can’t be a customer that printed successfully and took the photo rather than the designer. But reading more of the convo here, I think I’m unqualified to keep having input and will just read the rest of the thread for now.
Tonight MW went through all my models and kicked a lot of models out of the exclusiv program. Not fun especially that i could have left the program in 2 weeks by myself.
The majority of the cases shared on the forum relate to models added to the exclusive program that LATER became ineligible and despite the rules changing, MW treated its designers as guilty point harvesters cheating the system, when it was MW moving the needle each time.
Create a ticket and demand your 100% points back based on entering into the program before they started saying “we don’t want these”.
Some people have received the 100% back, only loosing the 25%.
Imagine spending days on end vector drawing and developing high quality multicolor designs to create the ultimate coaster set (for Fallout fans) only to get them booted from the exclusive program and all the points taken away. Yup, FML
Considering the VAST amount of 2D models (which actually CAN’T be printed on a 3D printer) actually getting printed into real things over the long and complex larger models they should count. I printed 23 “door corners” to give away over Christmas and only a few full-on tall models.
In this case i agree with makerworld, they make the platform available to you and give you rules to be able to benefit from your models. if you go against their rules and your points are removed (which i think you have already redeemed if you are in negative) they are right, you should have read the rules better and followed what they said. the exclusive program as explained by them aims to push more the more complete and complex models that can give an improvement to the platform and not 2d models that you can print with any printer or laser cutter. in general i do not defend makerworld in some cases already seen in this community they have in my opinion made errors of evaluation. but in this case they are totally right and are only enforcing the rules to maintain order on the site. if you want to earn with certain models upload them normally and convert the points into gift cards, free material has never hurt anyone. or move on another platform ( but for now i think that makerworld is the only one that give you this benefits).
