Initial Investigation in the Bambu Cloud Temporary Outage

How bad is your bed. I am surprised auto level doesn’t compensate for it.

My understanding is that’s what auto level is about.

Auto level can compensate the top of an print but never the bottum. No matter what you do you cant print bigger objects with an flat bottom. My bed is 1mm+ off in the middle

Oh wow 1mm is pretty good amount.

The auto level should be adjusting z height to compensate for the bed.

I have 7 printers and the YouTube channel
The first layer. He shows a method to help even the bed. You may want to try to get you by.

If you know what how big of an area the bed is out, take the plate out then take some painters tape and layer it in that area. To approx the 1mm.

Then put the plate back in on top of the tape and auto level.

This has helped me on my other printers maybe it will help get you by for now

Hi, yes the tape hint i know, i tried it already but u didnt get good results, it is an weired dull. The other way is to print an raft under every print to get an flat surface… but this is an immense waste of filament and yes the autoleveling corect the printing and this work fine. But when i then lay the print flat on the table it wobbles, because the autolwveling can only correcting the top not the bottom. You see it during printing the first layers, the bed corrects up and down

Oh ya I know I very seldom print rafts for that waste reason

The auto level should correct the first layer as it is laying down the layer it will follow the bed

Yes exact, it follows the bed, so far the correction work, and it does it not only for the first layers it does it for some more. This is the reason wh the top of the prints are fine… at least… i could try to mill the alu plate of the bed… but this i can only when i am able to buy an spare bed or they send me one…

I am totally with you @mr_cg
And hopefully (i beleve they will) with the next update, they make it possible to use LAN only also with bambu studio and handy app.
Otherwise this very cool printers will be overruled by competiters within shortest time.
Please bambulab team, do not ignore these very important doubts from your customers.

Yeah exactly,
I know what you’re talking about now, I
I thought about it last night
And if your bottom layer is contoured to the bed the rest of the print is going to be that way.

That was my bad I didn’t understand at first

maybe try to make the plate level
you will never ever have a completely level bed being they heat up cool heat up cool they do get warped

The manual level process i did already, but without sucess, the dull in the middle remains.

This is exactly what I’ve done 100% since I got my Carbon X1, export to an SD card. I have the printer on wireless to get firmware updates but otherwise it’s sneakernet for the actual print jobs. Of course it’s only 12 steps from my Den to the room my printer is in. I do wish I could just print locally on my LAN.

I do huh. Look I know you guys have a 2 year warranty that’s not what I was getting at. I was saying that warranties are there to protect the company. That why I said read it. It has zero to do with ignorance it has to do with the reality.

If you don’t follow the warranty pin point perfect they CAN deny it. Are they going to maybe not. But they can.

Look I know people get upset with what I post and really it doesn’t matter I have zero to do with bambu.

I say these things because my job is dealing with CNC machines repairs and we run into these same situations all the time.

But i followed the warranty way  i didnt make anything else. I dont modify, i use it as intended. All fine from my side. And when you sell in germany you have follow german laws. The german law says, when you have any kind of damage, in the first year the company has to proof it is your fault, otherwise they have to replace parts / repair / refund. If they dont and ignore you, you can get after them. And this is what i will do when they ignore me further. It is simply my right. After this year you have to proof it was companys fault.

Send them a copy of your (German) warranty law?

I would be a use it look like they know this when reading further down their warranty.

The warranty period for Return & Refund Service, Replacement Service and Repair Service may vary with regards to your product, the part experiencing issues, or the country of purchase.

So ya that what I would do is maybe send them something showing you know this and you will uphold them to it

I am in the U.S. and work for a German company.

So I know they have to follow u s warranty laws

All I am getting at is ya they have a warranty, and they need to honor it but also there is a bunch they are going to do to cover their buts also.

It is sad that they have to think like this but they stated that they have had people rip them off under warranty claimed so they are a bit trigger shy

I understand they shouldn’t be like that but they are and it sucks

Bambu Lab, change your ways. This shows why no matter how careful you think you are, you can never guarantee that it will work 100% cloud based. You must unbundle all the features including firmware updates from the cloud. It’s unacceptable that we cannot download firmware into the printer using SD card or at least over WiFi using some sort of emergency recovery mode. It’s even more unacceptable to have no emergency stop! That big red button on top of the printer should be programmed immediately to become an emergency stop. Tap it once and it asks for confirmation. Tap three times quickly and it immediately halts the print. You also must allow the user to be able to move the bed and the axis without homing for emergency purposes and there must be a button to turn off all motors so the axis can move (including motors from the AMS and the extruder so that jammed filament can be pulled manually. This printer is too restricted for no reason. At this point it has become clear that your value-add is NOT your cloud but the local features. We have been asking for tens of local features including releasing the ability to use NFC tags with any spool that we wish to put in the AMS, there is no reason you should lock down RFID when the AMS is just a plastic box with some small motors, gears and a small logic board and a NFC reader and writer, yet it costs a whopping £300 which is almost the cost of 2 budget 3D printers!!! That’s crazy. Stop locking it down. Make it accessible and just offer a paid subscription for cloud access and let people choose. I don’t want and don’t need cloud service! I do want the printer fully functional locally and it’s possible. Make it happen, we all want this. Cloud must be an addition not a requirement. Nobody loves DRM. This is not a cheap printer. Disrupt the market by being innovative AND open! You don’t need to open the firmware source code, just make the printer operable fully locally, including firmware upgrade and downgrade using file via SD or local “hotspot” portal upload if you don’t want to release the SD port.

I do on occasion remove the SD card, but it is barely a reasonable choice. It puts added wear on the SD card slot and mechanism. On a related subject, the issue of the SD card not updating when uploading to the card using FTP is also similarly annoying since you then have to go to the machine location and eject and reinsert the SD card. This problem has been listed as a requested fix for months. I would like to hear the reason it is so hard to sense a download to the SD card and refresh the display.

Ok i have an answer. They have detected now my bed is out of specification - and they will send me an new… good news. The fan i buy then in then shop .

Yes I realize that but for temporary time if cloud is down it will get you printing.

It will wear out yes after long periods of in and out but temp it should be fine.

As for the refresh issue. I do t know about that I have not had that issue. If I add to SD card it refreshes on the screen for me.

Now I do it the same way as I do for my other printers. I put the file on the root of the SD. No folders etc

I am wondering if that may be a problem. With some of not all.
