Is the kickstarter shipping delayed?

Malc’s contribution can actually be summarised as ‘Communication is key’ - and no division is really good at it. Bambulab, Makerworld, Cyberbrick, … It always comes back to the same thing.

I agree, communication is everything. I feel bad for Malc, I see he says that he is “just a bloke who enjoys 3D printing”. So am I just a bloke who enjoys 3D printing and dabbing with mico-electronics and would greatly appreciate it if someone responds to my inquiries. The difference being, I have no expectations that anyone will respond.

As I am writing this, my wife is talking to me, expecting me to be listening to her and expecting me to answer, but I am not, which is making her angry with me. So, as I just said, communication is everything. Time to quit posting and listen.

For anyone interested, pledges have started arriving in the UK. My friend who backed the early bird kit received his today

I didn’t say this.

You mean from their customers?

They are doing them in batches of 2k according to BL.

Their lack of communication is throughout the whole company and in each division.

If we focus on this specific part related to CyberBrick.

I use the term reviewer to mean those who were to design models using the new hardware, not YouTube people.

  • They failed to respond to the handful of early reviewers of the hardware.
  • They then demanded info from each and then failed to respond to any feedback.
  • I was accepted as a late reviewer. They failed to respond to all but two of my messages.
  • I called them out publicly and they responded “if only you told us”, which I had and the reason for the call out.
  • They said tell us and we will provide what you asked for, I did, they still haven’t.
  • Back in March they told me they were going to release the standard remote 3mf to reviewers, it arrived into May in a general release.
  • They said at the start of the kickstarter campaign the kits would be shipped in April, they waited until the campaign ended to go whoopsie we need another month
  • Reviewers were issued devices that used a web portal to configure the devices, it used WiFi. They knew they were changing this to Bluetooth and desktop/mobile apps when they sent my review unit. They didn’t tell me I couldn’t use it with the new apps still being written. They knew I couldn’t create the required config files as they need the new desktop and mobile apps to achieve it. My review unit requires a firmware update which I asked for privately and publicly, they still haven’t provided it after promising they would.
  • The apps were late without any reason given before or after.
  • The models the promised would be released on a specific date never materialised without any reason given before or after they eventually showed up.
  • The wiki didn’t arrive when promised without any reason given before or after.
  • The API didn’t show up when promised without any reason given before or after and is incredibly light on details.

The list goes on.

I talk to lots of designers here all the time, the big, the small, those in between. We are all very frustrated. I have a gig and am unafraid to use it despite the kick back I get with my models being suppressed.

My biggest issue now is the group of people who will not know there is an issue with their order due to payment or that dumb pledge box process (should have been in-house created) because BL haven’t told anyone their order has been cleared without issue of information or payment. Worse, they haven’t communicated with people with issues.

How does anyone know they might need to fix something, like a failure of the pledge box system?

All of these issues are communication and much frustration could be avoided by simply talking to people in a blog post, forum post, email newsletter, kickstarter campaign update, any of the tools available to them.

They constantly choose not to.

If you don’t understand that and blame me for wanting them to be better for everybody, I have no words to explain my exasperation.

I don’t blame you for anything, I appreciate your diligence in trying to make the MakerWorld better for the rest of us. Thank you.

Was curious why I haven’t heard anything if they are shipping in batches of 2,000 and I’m backer 215. After digging around on the Kickstarter page comment section I found my answer on a random post. So if you were an early backer and ordered a time-lapse kit, this may be why yours hasn’t shipped yet.

Yeah, and when I think about it, I probably won’t use that time-lapse kit anyway

Nice. Luckily, I didn’t :expressionless:but my postal address caused issues and I found this by checking manually on pledgebox. Still no progress since

Yet another example of no communication.

Why not tell those affected including me? I am 204.

Add a kickstarter update and be honest.

@CyberBrick why did you choose not to share this important information?

Plus, where is the firmware update I asked for, that you told me I should have asked for after I had asked for it and I asked for it again in response to your reply?

Such disrespect shown to purchasers.

I should be surprised, but, when it happens with such regularity, Hiw can we be?

Communication is cheap, it costs you nothing. An informed people are a less angry and disappointed people.

How do you not know that? I have been saying it for a year.

You know something we don’t, but should, tell us. You are nit sharing secrets, you are sharing pertinent and timely information that also means you have less support directed at answering individual questions.

I am sick of this dumb attitude that communication is bad and you must never share useful information.

You continually shoot yourselves in the foot and then repeat it all over again.

Share important information with people, respect us and show you actually care about your customers p, the ones that fund your company.

Second update, my cyberbrick pledge arrived via Royal Mail with no specific tracking info or update that I’m aware of. It very well could’ve got lost in my spam folder or possibly even PledgeBox failed to send it. But it’s all here so they are arriving, at least in the UK

As far as I can tell their emails are going into the great unknown. I haven’t read of anyone getting a notice OR tracking information. I have been notified via UPS that I have a package of unknown origin arriving tomorrow. I can’t ‘imagine’ what it is!

BTW, the UPS notification is part of my registering with UPS and has nothing to do with Pledgebox (TL).

Hmmmm, got to clear off some space on one of my workbenches…

EDIT: Pledge # 50xx, central North Carolina, US.

thank you for your post. I am backer#281. An yes i have the dreaded time lapse kit

I tested out the new ticket for CyberBrick post-sale and delivery issues.

I received a fast and irrelevant response.

They stated that they have shared all shipping information; however, they have not communicated with those who have the Time Lapse product, which is causing delays without any notification from BL/CB.

They also asked for my PledgeBox ID.

I have replied that their public shipping info does not provide any such pertinent information. I have shared my PledgeBox ID and confirmed my address is correct.

I still await a reply.

I suspect the first response was boilerplate at best, otherwise, the incompetence is worse than thought.

Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

The shipping time may vary depending on the order sequence, product type, region, and other factors.

We have checked, and it appears that your order has not yet been shipped. Due to recent adjustments in customs policies, we are required to wait for the certification information to be approved before we can proceed with shipping.

Orders that have not yet been shipped will be processed and shipped starting from mid-June.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are more than happy to assist you.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

MakerWorld

For reference, I received my Kickstarter kit yesterday. Location Canada. I’m assuming the early bird shirt were shipped separately?

I received my kit yesterday. Backer 5673 in the US.

I’m not jealous. You’re jealous.

The t shirts wont be shipped now. We will receive a coupon code which we can use to get it from the bambu store. So i am guessing some time in June we can place an order.

Still no public announcement explaining why there are those whose orders have been withheld.

Is it really because of the Timelapse kit not being ready?

Is it some other reason?

Why not tell people? If it is due to the Timelapse kit why is that information so secret that it cant be shared?

The only public announcements related to shipping have been:

  1. “We cannot deliver on our promise that delivery starts immediately at the end of the campaign.” They shared, “We are delaying shipment by a month.” After the Kickstarter campaign ended.

  2. “We have shipped the first 2k.” Despite many in the first 2k not having received theirs. “We will ship in 2k blocks.”

Given @SH_Designs has pointed out the 3rd block (4k to 6k) has been shipped to America, it means those like me in the first book have received no information.

I requested an update via the new ticket category, but they have refused to provide any information.

@vhamly was told American orders are being held up, yet @SH_Designs received their American location order.

What little information is shared constantly conflicts with other information.

What would solve this?

A public announcement to include!

  • Why are they being held up?
  • When will they be shipped?
  • Why was this information withheld?
  • What compensation will be provided?

All I know is I got one of the timelapse kit, so I likely wont see my stuff until later than sooner. That’s the impression I’ve got. Wont ship until mid june now? So maybe by the end of June? I don’t know.

I’m just trying to play the patient game. Although it’s a little frustrating. I have a few little related projects going on, but they’re kind of on hold. I obviously have hardware on hand, but not enough to do everything I want. So, it’s either take apart old models, or wait. Or, in some cases, I could use some additional components I don’t yet fully have.
