I unfortunately had a model removed today by Maker World and all the points from the model were taken from my account, why? I used the word Lego which is trademarked buy the Lego group

Where does it say it is because of the word Lego?
Are you sure it’s removed because it says Lego in the title? Lots of models with Lego in the title and with more downloads than yours, I assume MW would remove them all if they believed that was a problem, or not even allow the word Lego in the title to begin with.
I received a notification about it. It sounds like the LEGO group reached out to MW and asked for it to be removed
The LEGO group (the worlds largest toy company) must have felt threatened by the maker community? So they had it removed and now we have to call it a “brick”. I’ve see a couple people with way more downloads than me tho. like 12 times the amount, and they still have the word LEGO in it. I don’t know why they (lego) would go after me first? hopefully others can see this before MW needs to get involved tho, as they don’t just let you edit the wording and they take all the points back
MW has cracked down on the using the word Lego for some time. Yours must have been an older upload I’m guessing to still have it anywhere in your listing. I get a chuckle out of the creative ways people “mis-spell” it. I wonder how many of those Lego can claim as well.
It’s weird that it’s still ok on other sites (printables, thingiverse) Hell people are even using the logo in addition to the word.
Makes me think LEGO is going to make a Dwayne Johnson head.
I’m sorry for your points but unfortunately, you can’t appeal a decision based on broken rules. It was clearly stated in advance not to use the word brick, and it’s likely you received those points only because you did. So, I think it’s a lesson learned.
Old topic, probably new for you. It’s been like this for many months. You don’t have to use the term “Lego”, most people now use brick. Lego sues anyone who uses the term, which is why no one uses it anymore. See YouTube, manufacturers, etc. everyone avoids the term.
To be completely honest: I wouldn’t use the term either, that only causes trouble, so be glad that your model was only taken down. Lego likes to sue. Look at it positively: MakerWorld even protects you from that.
I just had my remix to tighten up the holes on the wreath model taken down. The IP report was FROM the LEGO corporation. (at least that was what I could see).
If you have a LEGO model, you’d better go remove LEGO and not try and get away with LEG0 or anything else. Just sayin. 3900 lost points. Was a good model at Christmas. There are several more out there… Oh, and the remix didn’t have LEGO printed on the model. I just searched and at least 20 still out there do.
Same thing happened to me this morning. I had a model that used the “name-that-shall-not-be-named” prior to the ban. I knew if you uploaded something since the ban it wouldn’t let you submit the model, so I just figured on that same logic, since MW wasn’t automatically taking out the forbidden word on older models, that it wasn’t a big deal. I was wrong. Rather than send a courtesy notice to remove the word and update my model, it just deleted it and docked me 1300 points in the wee hours of the morning. Their sandbox. Their rules. We are just playing in it.
So I deleted anything else even remotely related the kingdom of Denmark and their famous toys.
absolutely, I was just letting others know what was happening to me, and letting this be a good lesson we all could learn from. This model was posted well over a year ago and there was no restrictions or warnings at that time.
I changed the word LEGO to “BRICK” on all my related models and I still hade one removed buy Maker World this morning. It may just be that LEGO had already reached out about it and even though it was not braking any rules anymore they had already started the proses of removal. Either way, I moved all my “brick” models to privet and hopefully they won’t remove it and take the points too
Dwayne the Brick Johnson!
If you think about it, it’d be an awesome wrestler. Signature move could be throwing lego down on the ground, the opponent steps on them and while they’re screaming in horrible pain, the wrestler goes in for the finishing move.
It’s the lego version of throwing sand in someone’s eyes.
How about Dwayne the Block Johnson?
I don’t know why I didn’t think about that
I had one of my most popular models flagged, a “big brick” figure, didn’t mention lego in anything and it got taken down. Lost thousands of points too. Really sucks because there are literally hundreds of them still up. Oh well.
I know this won’t help you now, but it will help others who read this: That is why people say it constantly and everywhere again and again: convert points into gift cards as soon as possible.
Since gift cards no longer expire (respectively 10 years?), there is no reason not to do this immediately.
Great to know, I thought it was just a year, thanks for sharing. I started the process of redeeming all mine, but they only let me redeem 14 gift cards at a time, then you need to wait a week. So I’m like a month away from getting the printer I want
