MakerWorld Feature Request

When guests click on my profile in MakerWorld, it would be nice if they could see an organized layout of all of my models by “type”… Right now, they might see a toy I made, next to a tool I made. Have a cohesive organization method, within my profile would be amazing. Much like ETSY stores offer their sellers. (Etsy also allows the upload of a 15 second MP4 with no sound… THAT would be amazing here on Makerworld, too.)

Example:

  1. New
  2. Featured (Pin to top)
  3. Tools
  4. Vases
  5. Oranments
  6. etc etc etc … (all of these categories would be created and organized by the profile owner.)

I think you can use public collections for that.

Ahh-- I see. Thank you! I’ll look into that. I appreciate you!

Hi everyone,

I think it would be amazing to have more organizational control over our designer pages. While I understand that public collections are the current solution, I’d love to see more customization options around how viewers experience our pages when they first land.

On a related note, I previously posted about having pinned models as a feature: Feature Request: Pinned Models - MakerWorld - Bambu Lab Community Forum

The idea is simple: I want to be able to post a lot of quality models while keeping my page looking clean and professional. Having the ability to pin and curate a select group of models at the top would allow for a great first impression before users scroll through the full list.

I’d like something like the YouTube channel pages. For those who aren’t familiar, you can basically fully customize it. You can add different customizable “Sections” in different orders. There would be a “Home” tab, a “Models” tab, a “Profiles” tab, and a “Collections” tab. For example this could be one home. All of the “Section headings” would be customizable.

New Design

{Singular spotlighted design, would have more info (e.g. the first part of a description, or maybe a custom description input when adding this section)}

Recommended Designs

{A list of designs that are recommended specifically for the user. Basically the “For You” page, but only with a specific designer.}

Favorite Designs

A collection of my favorite designs!
{List of models. This would be pulled from a collection}

Christmas Designs

All my Christmas models in one place!
{List of models. This would be pulled from a collection}

Popular Designs

{An automatically created list of popular/trending designs}

All my collections

{A horizontally scrolling (with «/») section featuring all of the user’s collections}

This is spot on. I typically don’t upload all of my designs, such as hangers for custom tools, because they don’t align with my theme and the release schedule for my games and toys.

You all are MUCH more adept an conveying what I was looking for. Yes… This next level organization with the goal of creating a cohesive design portfolio, would be amazing… It would help us create our “brand”…

Can we throw in some boilerplate content creation as well?

I would like to create content outside of individual models that I can insert into model pages.

For example I would like to insert a content block into my fidget gyros and spinners model pages that when I edit it outside of the modems, any model with that block is automatically updated.

I could use this to highlight the latest version in all previous versions. Change once, appear many.

I would like to be able to create as many of these as I wish and insert them into any models in any location I desire.

I know this is easy as I built into my commercial website CMS solution, Gravitas.

I would also like to order the models within categories. This again is technically very easy as every part of my CMS included drag and drop ordering.

They’ve been ignoring suggestions about this for ages :frowning:

@Lee-2 May I recommend changing the title of this thread to “Feature Request: Enhanced Profile Organization and Media Features” or something along those lines so that we can get other maker’s ideas? Cheers,

I have also been putting it forward for months.

This is why I drop it into any semi-related post.

@Lee-2 and add the optional category that includes “request” as it is a feature/product request, MW rarely oook at feature requests not clearly categorised as such.

I’m trying to figure out how to add that tag. :slight_smile: Great suggestion. @PineappleBun_BBL This has been a very helpful posting that BambuLabs will want to see. :slight_smile:

This is a great suggestion! I’ve passed it along to the team responsible for related development.

We will add it in users’(including creators) profile page.

Thanks for adding these ideas to the roadmap!

The description from @Zammer3D that allows creators to customize their pages similar to a YouTube layout is spot on with what I would want to see. This would allow designers to put their best, new or fan favorite models at the top of their profiles based on how they would like to present it, as well as get more value out of curated collections.

For someone like me, I would add more functional models that don’t detract from my primary models I want my “audience” to see. And I can image for someone like @MalcTheOracle it would allow his audience to better find the fidget or willy that they are looking for to narrow down their search, while highlighting other unique models like one of his games.

I was typing up a feature request and this request shows up.

Yes, I would like to be able to group models into sections. So models that are useful in the house stay together in their section, and toys stays together in another section of their own, etc.

In addition to the category sections, there should be one section for New Models which creators can put their latest uploads in for a few weeks before moving them to their appropriate section.

There can be another section called Most Downloaded which creators can put their models that got the most downloads. But this feature is optional.

Another fun section will be called Most Underrated for models that creators are very proud of but got little attention from the users :slight_smile: . This is optional.

I don’t want to have the models hiding inside different folders which forces users to click open in order to see the models inside them. I want all the models on display in sections, just like the way MW home page shows models.

Same, I’ve got so much random stuff that I don’t really want to post. I’d post it on an alt account or something, but then MakerWorld would probably ban me. This would be a much more elegant solution.

With “see all” shown for those dumb enough to have uploaded 600+ models and would have categories of a hundred of more models contained.

The promised followers feed

Can we finally get this?

The idea was the ability for those that follow us and consent to be able to see a feed of stuff we put up, it doesn’t need to tie to the latest models.

It could have so e if the features outlined by @DWdesigns so we could shout out a favourite or one that didn’t get love first time around.

Ask followers a poll of which of these x models would you like to see first?

Most of my models are underrated (according to me :slight_smile: ). They will have to take turn going into the Most Underrated section so as to avoid a brawl for the spotlight.
