Likewise, I am sure your are going through and adding printed pictures on all your models that currently don’t have it. I know, I know, you went and added pictures on your print profiles… But that is only half the requirement now. OR we can go by what Makerworld said and from the day they published the new rules on, we follow the current requirements.
I dont have model that dont have pictures on my models but yeah I know the struggle
Oh my bad. I thought you were KenPrint3D. He has a number of models that don’t have a picture of the printed model - like Paw dear forest by KenPrint3D - MakerWorld
Yes, the print profile has the picture. But as makerworld has said (and taken down models for lacking a picture on the main page), the picture of the printed model has to be attached to the model as well… but that didn’t start till mid March.
those models did not need a printed picture in the early begining of makerworld and the model was printed by makerworld I believe as the name tag on the printed model is beanoverlord, the rules have always been there and always stated that the models might be removed if no physical pictures where attached to it, I believe this was the reason makerworld was helping creators in the early begining to print their models as print profiles need to be created in order to print the model with the actual handy app on your phone. Like mentioned before rules for physical image have always been implemented and stated might be removed.
On some images it is really hard to tell, especially if they’re cut so tight that it could look like it’s just the source png / jpg and not an actual print.
It’s a bit the struggle of making it visible it’s a real print, but at the same time having a good thumbnail image that attracts the viewer even in the small preview. I guess the best solution is to have multiple pictures where one shows a bit of it’s natural surrounding so people can easily see it’s a print and not just a source jpg or render.
yes this is me, when the rules changed the models that havent been printed on my profile have also been removed from makerworld and points taken away also from it. things happens rules changes but yeah I feel you its a bit sad for you as you do have a lot of models there
but the thing I dont understand is why do you keep uploading models as I just looked the date you published seems recent with no physical image and just renders if you know that some people might report you and that a lot are talking about it now ? rules have changed but where in the notifications system and sent to everyone long time ago I believe couple of months now didnt it ?

43 models have been uploaded since March 1st and have printed pictures. (Yes, I have some pictures that are very low resolution and that has been ok’ed by makerworld with the agreement going forward they will be higher resolution. - Talked about in this thread…)

Luckily I always did them so i had no issues, but to be honest I find it sometimes hard to follow rule changes on Makerworld. I think they should be published via push notification in the app and on the page should be an easy to find page where we can see the changelogs of the rules.
Especially since the re-design that removed the bulletin board it got even harder to find such important topics. The contest schedules is another example that should be more “prominent” and not something we have to search in this forum.
Posts like this ( Actions taken against spamming of low-quality models on MakerWorld - MakerWorld - Bambu Lab Community Forum) should have been in the System Notifications.
They themselves cannot keep up with these rule changes. The competition that started yesterday has the following provisions in the “Contest Rules”
-
Upload your original 3D models to MakerWorld in .3MF or .STL format. Including a Print Profile with your model can help you gain more Likes and Downloads. (This means that including a printing profile is not categorical, but will only allow you to get a better response.)
-
Include photos or renderings of the model(s), preferably showcasing actual makes of the model.
i got 13 taken down this morning all with real pictures. the picture showing was edited with picsart to make it have a better background but it was real, but i also had the pics of where i layed them on my pool table and took a pic of them. i was able to add the print profiles back with the good pics and i got a msg 12 hours later my appeal failed, yet my stuff is still up. this is messed up, i had to find every 3mf file. every correct picture, it took hours. i know i have a hater because he just printed a second thing and gave me 3 stars with a smart elic msg and makerworld deleted his last 3, so i know its him. i have him blocked now.
i took the pictures down, i think i read where its a rules not to post msgs from support? so i am removing all pictures to be safe.
i wont post anymore. i think itll get straightened out. i still am getting msgs 18 hours later saying appeal failed but that was this morning before i fixed the profiles I should have fixed them then filed appeal, but this is my first time. the pics there were the real ones but edited with picsart, background removed with a white or grey backround replaced. if you zoomed in u could see the texture from the print plate on the print. ty for listening, Doug
That can and does happen unfortunately - if your profile gets reported too much and it’s hard to tell whether the print is real (imagine trying to gauge “is it really good print or is it render” while being overworked underpaid low-level employee). I’d still appeal the decision till someone finally notices it’s simply a good print.
While my models are nowhere near as good, as a precaution I always add image right after print, fresh on hotplate (especially with supports) so there’s no chance of getting confused
Thank you. I just now took the 13 models in question and put them on the hot plate one at a time and tried to take a really nice pic. I had them on an ugly piece of paper with my name today to show them, but decided to make them nicer, I have print profile pic thats real and a model pic thats real on all 13l, that should do it. thank you all for listening, hope Maker world is listening. I havent had hardly any points since this happened, i was getting alot more. anyways. talk to you all later. Doug
can you all tell me something? when they took down my 13 profiles for no real pic. i was able to create no print profiles with a real pic. everything looks good. but when they write to me they say that i havent won my appeal yet. i havent had any downloads of thos 13 models since and they were doing great until this happened. theyre halloween models so after halloween they prob wont do well, so if they arent live now i am missing out. is my account live? specifically those profiles. they look live. they say my pics were for sure renders. yes there were some renders, but the picsart app i use makes them look like renders except if you zoom in you can see the printer texture on the model. is it my understanding that the model and print profile must have a real pic? because thats where i might be guilty. but again, i used my picsart pic mostly which they would think is a render unless they zoom in. i had this picture set as print profile. zoom in, you can see texture from my plate on the print. thank you all for listening.
That is clearly printed.
But, removing the backgrounds can make it significantly harder to determine if it was printed or one of the far too many renders that have the ability to add fake layer lines.
Never remove backgrounds, they do not make the model look better and remove it from any visual scale indicators.
I believe a photo in a decent setting or staged in a light box or against a wall is the best. The only thing that makes it better is if a model can be shown in situ where it is used. Door corners should be shown on a door and a close up view with whatever background it sits on.
I agree 100. I live in a trailer hours and all my door corners are 2 inches form the ceiling. My mirrors are octagons. I dont have any wall shelves. So i havent had a good corner to pose them on. I am working on that though, i just got a mirror today that has a flat top.
In such cases, where i am unsure, i usually add an image that comes directly from the printer. possibly also with supports and wiping tower.
Lately I’ve been getting more and more into publishing time-lapse videos to prove printability. Or when it comes to functional models, to show their function on video (e.g. AMS coils). Many negative reviews can be refuted by this portfolio. Often enough, there is not even a proper comment. Or if you ask, there is no answer describing the problems with your model. Not all bad reviews are removed. This is the best way for users who might want to print it out to get an idea, along with a detailed description, of what they are getting and what they need to look out for when printing. They can then see for themselves if bad reviews are unfounded if they come across one.
they wrote me again this morning, saying they’re still working on my appeal. and the fact that my account is now in full compliance with all real pics in model and profile has no bearing on the appeal, i could lose the appeal still.
what can happen if i lose the appeal? they said if i dont lose they will reinstate my profiles, but what i dont understand is all my profiles are up. they let me upload the 3mf and add pictures, people have downloaded a couple but yet it does seem my account is dead since this happened. they sent me four pics to look at, i told them, yes those are renders. I told them from day one i sometimes included a render but also would include a real picture. such a big deal over a picture. i for sure had a real in every model. I didnt know about having to have in print profile too. but some did have real ones by luck.
