Makerworld now taking down print profiles with Physical Print images?

This makes no sense. If the objective is to have photo evidence on every print profile (which I 100% support) and the problem is rectified, the PROBLEM IS RECTIFIED.

The need to make sure someone complies should end in compliance as a goal, not sanctions.

Sanctions are for when it doesn’t comply and no effort to correct the problem has been made.

Also, some people are being negatively affected from a time when no such rule occurred, at the very least, those should be given grace.

I believe photo evidence of a print is required, I believe renders should never be the first image in the main model deck of images and no main picture should ever have the background removed or manipulated.

I also believe it is dumb to penalise someone willing to correct a mistake or willing to change to rules than didn’t previously exist.

Is it against the rules if I post a screenshot of what they last said including even if I am in full compliance now will not affect thier decision on my appeal. That I can still have my profiles removed.
All my profiles are up. They didn’t take any points. They just deleted the print profile. I was able to upload the 3mf and add pictures. My profiles appear to be up. They’re showing up. 5 in the Halloween contest. But I’am not getting downloads like I was. I wonder if you all can see them and or print it if you wanted to. I am not asking anyone to do that. I am just wondering if it’s possible. I’d like to post there msg here. I thought I seen a rule about not posting msgs from support? Let me look for one of my pictures I had posted that they say is a render.

i forgot to add. I went to the contest rules and am blown away that it actually says u can use a render. these are the only rules Ive seen about pictures. heres the screenshot. No wonder some are confused.

Transparency might be more opaque than we would prefer right now.

More than one of us has been threatened with being removed for honesty.

MONTHS ago this was pointed out and at the time they said they would fix it.

As you can tell, they haven’t.

A cynical person might assume they are laying a trap for people.

It’s technically not a trap: you are free to add a model without a profile, that’s only represented by very fancy renderings and it has a chance. But if you add a print profile without a photo that’s a no-no.

So it’s the same as with adding models: you can add a model without photo evidence of it even being printable, but you can’t add a print profile without photo evidence of it working.

Cynicism occurs after you are given cause due to actions taken against you.

If that hasn’t happened to you yet, I hope it doesn’t.

They wrote again. basically saying they were working on communicating rules changes and other things. plus sent me a screenshot of the rules change. WOW. right there in the rule change it says we have till Oct 9th to bring our account into compliance. Mines in full compliance as of yesterday. Do You think they’re waiting on oct 9th to recheck my account? I mean my account seems and looks normal. except it seems downloads have stopped on the ones they deleted the print profiles on. as i said before i was able to re upload the 3mf’s and pictures. I think I’ve had 2 downloads of one of the deleted print profiles so maybe my Halloween stuff has just slowed down and has nothing to do with them. but i will be in shock if i get punished when it says we have till oct 9th. what are your thoughts. what do you think they’re going to do? I found old profiles from 8 months ago that they didn’t flag that didn’t have a real print profile pic. It does now. I went through every single file. i have 91 models. that was alot of work… every time you get done with one you have to scroll all the way down again. I feel like everything is going to be ok. I’ve been really stressed over this. ty guys for listening. @MakerWorld I care about the rules. I’ve worked hard to make everything right.

Don’t feel bad. Makerworld really needs to step up instead of punishing the wrong people.

I found out after I last posted that it was last oct 9th 2023 that we had to comply. I didn’t join until march. So I never was sent a rule. I know there’s some that will say I should have read them. But guess what. I still can’t find them. I found a copy that someone posted just this morning. That’s when I learned that my profiles got pushed to bottom of all the models on makerworld. That’s why I am not getting downloads. My new ones are that I’ve made since. I’ve drew two more this morning that are printing now. So after they printed they’re getting posted. Thank you all again for listening. Doug

I don’t wish to be “that guy”, but, the rule about photos for each print profile is part of the check box you confirm before uploading the print profile, it is immediately above it.

It also shows a warning below the caption for images the image upload button and the image stack.

First. That could be understood as the print profile being the whole listing. As in on the first page you upload a picture. Some might think that’s enough. Which I actually did. But I use Picsart. It takes out the back ground and I can choose a color or a scene. They said one of these was a render. It was not. Yes I had renders in some of my profiles so it’d look good but put a real pic inside. So I thought. Real or render? Remember. In the app you can’t zoom in. Not sure if they can zoom in. But sometimes my pic is blurry. I didn’t think much of it. I’ll answer ahead of time. This is a real picture with edited background. This is one of the better ones. Light is shining off a corner that gives it away as real .

As your doors are not an ideal (your words) way to present these.

Place them on a table, (if you have a uniform colour background for contrast that would be great underneath, wood effect patterns are usually good as well) and take a photo facing down with a slight angle, somewhere around 60-70º (give or take).

Do not remove the background.

if the table isn’t good enough, use the floor, it will require something underneath. Even an ironed sheet placed underneath would work (I do not iron my sheets or anything to be fair, so this may not be available).

Important

Feel free to ignore my suggestions, they are just that. One idiot’s ideas being shared with someone asking for thoughts.

Someone writes to you that your models have been moved to the end of the listings of all models on Makerworld? :astonished:

I appreciate your advice. I no longer take the background out. I take one pic on my pool table and one on a mirror. Then one while on build plate. ty again for your advice.

Its in the rules that your model is moved to the end of the model page if the profile is deleted for no real pic. while its in appeal state. Theyre all up and running. no points taken. just not getting downloads on those 13 they took down. I got about 5 so far that are made after all this and they are getting downloads. One of mine had at least 75 downloads and now its stalled. I keep telling myself, This too shall pass.

@Malc, I have no idea why this is replying to you. Not meant to.

This, which is announced full in system messages from October 2023. I’ll share if needed.

I still don’t get this, never will.
Lack of enforcemet does not negagte the rules. “I got away with it until now” is not a defense. Contest, no contest.

To uphold the highest quality standards and ensure an exceptional printing experience, we kindly ask all Print Profile creators to meticulously assess the quality of their submissions. Additionally, we now require Print Profile creators to include actual print images alongside their Print Profiles. As of today, we’re offering a grace period of 10 days for Print Profile creators to update their existing creations. During this period, creators only need to add actual print images to the ‘Print Profile Pictures’ section.

After these 10 days, in the interest of fairness and transparency, Print Profiles lacking actual print images will be automatically placed at the end of the list on model pages. Moreover, the model designer will have the authority to review and remove such Print Profiles. This step allows us to prioritize Print Profiles that offer a comprehensive and accurate representation of the intended print

I get the frustration of being caught, I just don’t get the indignity of having to fix it. I get the frustration of it being hardly enforced till now, I don’t get the entitlement of being able to break a rule because of that.

Many of us have wished, griped about that rule not being enforced.

I got caught up in it for 2 profiles not having the print in the profile, but on the listing. Took 10 minutes to fix. You know why? Because I post a pic with every upload. I already had one. You post it, print it, take a pic.

But…but…

As I said, go ahead and get up over them not enforcing it, but don’t look for a pass because you didn’t follow it.

makerworld still messing with me, i made earplug holders with a 4mm hole. i had someone print one and left me 4 stars saying holes were too tight. so i went back to fusion and made one with a 6mm hole. i listed it and wrote changed hole from 4 to 6mm basically. new design. makerworld deleted the 6mm saying duplicate copy rule. can they not read? i just looked through profiles and one guy had 6 profiles. color change. multi plate. size change ect. i see 1000;s that have multi profiles. is someone reporting me?

The person that was trending with a filament clip recently had 17 profiles that were 99.5% identical and nothing was done. Maybe you just needed more?
