Title: P2S – Hotend trying to become a small sun? Melting sock, melting sticker, maybe melting my sanity.

I got my P2S around 10 days ago. At the beginning I honestly thought I’m just too stupid for this printer. A couple of prints failed in absolutely phenomenal, almost artistic ways – you know how Venom looks in his original form? Yeah, like that, just… beautiful failures.
To be fair: I’m still learning.
I also didn’t know much about filaments at first and accidentally bought PETG HF refill boxes (no spool) instead of “with roll”. So my very first proper roll I printed with was PLA (not PLA+, not CF, just basic PLA).
Because I’m apparently a genius, I also dried my filaments – including that PLA roll. That PLA spool got deformed during drying and became basically unusable. So I already needed a new spool, and this time I decided: no more PLA, let’s go PETG.
I took the new PETG HF, used the PETG HF nozzle with one of the replica models, because on the P2S it seems not possible to override the model settings from PLA to PETG in the way you’d logically expect.
Result:
On the first layer it started to go full spaghetti, then clogged, then melted the silicone sock, and then basically welded (or at least glued for eternity) the nozzle / hotend to the printer’s heat exchanger on the toolhead.
By the way: the AI never caught a single spaghetti fail. I had about six of them, and it didn’t detect any of those.
I tried to clean it up and did a cold pull, so I think it still works… but something feels terribly wrong.
A few more things I’ve noticed:
- The “DO NOT TOUCH HOT” sticker on the left side inside the chamber started melting/deforming.
- As far as I know, these stickers are supposed to be heat resistant.
- The sticker on the right side looks perfectly fine.
- Most of my prints just didn’t look good at 100% speed. At 50% (Silent Mode) quality suddenly went from “oh no” to “okay, I can live with that”.
My wild guess
Some, if not all, heat sensors in the print head (most likely the thermistors) are badly off on my device.
Why I think that:
- The sticker is not super close to the print head, but it clearly shows signs of getting way too much heat from that direction (especially when the head is parked for filament change or during print preparation).
- My silicone sock is half gone and melted between nozzle and heater block.
- According to what I found, the sock is made of high-temperature FVMQ silicone and should handle around 300–330 °C for a limited time.
- The whole print (including preparation until I realized the mess) ran for about 7–9 minutes at 100% speed.
- PETG should be printed at around 260 °C, not at “let’s see what melts next”.
So either:
- the hotend is actually running way hotter than reported,
or
- there is some control issue where the temperature overshoots like crazy and stays there long enough to destroy things.
AI & safety
One thing that really worries me:
If the AI can’t even catch obvious spaghetti fails (I had six of them, all ignored), and the printer apparently overheats enough to melt silicone and a warning sticker, that doesn’t feel very “safe” for an enclosed system.
Support & what now?
Bambu support so far has been… let’s say: extremely delayed and maximally asynchronous. Even when the agent is still shown as “online” in the chat, I don’t get any response anymore. When he comes back online: still nothing.
So I’m here to ask:
- Has anyone with a P2S seen similar behavior?
- Melted sock, deformed “DO NOT TOUCH HOT” sticker, bad quality on 100% but okay on 50%?
- AI ignoring spaghetti fails completely?
- Any official statement or fix for this kind of overheat issue?
I really hope Bambu sorts this out properly for us early adopters of this “finished” second-series product.
Otherwise, I’m sure a small consortium of influencers would love to review a printer that tries to turn its print head into a miniature fusion reactor.
