P1S or P2S

Hi togehter,

i am new here, but have several years 3d printing experience, before I start to use Bambu. I use 2 A1 since around a year and are very happy with those printers.
But I have the feeling, I need a closed printer to improve myself and the parts (95% for rc planes)

Right know the P1S with the AMS is very cheap and well known. But on the other site the new P2S is available end of December. I am very unhappy that I have to decide between P1S and P2S :joy:

Maybe there are some users who have both already and can give me some advise.

Oh and englisch is not my nativ language so, please be patient if I am not the best writer.

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
as a user of the P1S i can tell you, in my opinion, the P1S is at the moment a very good deal. It work´s very well without any problems. Buy it and after 15 Minutes you have can start the print. I am impressed how good it works.
With Bambu Filament (RFID tag) and AMS it´s easy going.
i think about buying another bigger/newer/multicolor printer but there is no reason. never change a runing system.
Bambu called it “workinghorse” and that´s right.
The P2S ist at the moment not flawless…

PS. Wenn Du was suchst was funktioniert, dann nimm den PS1 mit AMS. Die neueren Modelle haben aktuell noch Kinderkrankheiten. Kannst alles hierdrinn nachlesen…schlechte Oberfläche der Wand…Düse kracht ins Druckbett…usw

Hi Windi, thanks for your reply.

Hi Daniel!

As a Owner of the P2S I can confidently tell you that the P2S is the better option. You have a price difference of about 200€ but the difference in Performance, Quality and Features is insane. Can’t speak much about the P1S (don’t own one) but even after comparing the two on the official Bambulab site and watching countless reviews and tests to decide which printer to get, the P2S is the better choice (in my opinion)

But I think everyone can agree with me that you get much more for those 200€. Even just the AMS 2 Pro costs over 300€ retail.

So yeah I think you should consider buying the P2S because you get a better overall printer and newer tech/products (Will also be supported longer)

Based on the product list, if you have a sufficient budget, purchase the H2S; otherwise, purchase the P2S.
The improvement of the p2S over the p1S is not significant.

I had a P1S for a year and switched to the P2S as soon as it was available, so it is 1 month old now.
As said before, the P2S still need some refinements from Bambu, the starting gcode is not very good, the noise cancellation is not perfect etc…

Compared to my previous P1S, this is what I can say:

  • quality of printed parts is exactly the same on my case, I have reprinted the same parts with the same material and it is mostly the same quality wise with the 0.4nozzle. I had some worse prints with the P2S but they are due to Bambu Studio updates which gave me some issues on old print profiles
  • the screen is definitely a good update. Now that you can set the nozzle size from the printer only it is really more convenient, it is also better when you want to move the toolhead/build plate for exemple. But as my computer is close to the printer, the other operations are still very easy to do from Bambu Studio.
  • It has been longly debated after the first reviews but in my case, the cooling/heating system is not worse and sometimes better than the one from the P1S. I did not have any heat creep issue with the P2S, the cool air injection is working really well, I really appreciate to be able to keep the door closed and the glass panel in place without fearing a clog. The filtration of smells is not worse than the P1S, I use a lot of ASA and I think the P2S filter it better than the P1S
  • the nozzle cleaning system is really a mess, and my printer bottom is covered in filament strands. I had to create an additional wiper system and as far as I see many users download it from Makerworld so I am not the only one to seek for a improvement in this area. The P1S was clearly better here
  • I really like the nozzle system! This is by far the new feature I use a lot, as I change the nozzle size a lot. In my P1S I put an aftermarket hotend with threaded nozzle tip to make it easier to change diameter, without the need to touch the small and delicate wires and connectors. It was really good compared to the original part, but this new system is clearly better, and clearing a clog will be easier too
  • having a temperature sensor is a nice addition too, if like me you pre-heat a lot your printer for engineering filaments, it is good to have an integrated solution
  • the camera and lighting is mile ahead of the poor P1S
  • I had no issue with the carbon rods, so for me the steel ones are not an improvement (and it looks cheaper)
  • I do not like the new putty grey color, my printer is inside my office, the look of this new one is cheaper than the P1S
  • AMS 2 is supposed to be an improvement, but I neved had to dismount the previous one to access to the PTFE tubes, and the drying function is not very good as far as I see : the temperature is not sufficient for engineering filaments, you need to have the exact same material inside it (not a good idea to try to dry ASA or ABS with a spool of PLA inside), you have to unload the filament if you want to use the rotating function, and while you dry you cannot print. I do not see a speed improvement and it does not make way less noise than the AMS1. What I like is only the ceramic inserts that will not wear much, it will be better in the long end. But for me a AMS1 and a AMS HT as a dryer is a much much better package.

So far it is not a regret as I know I have now the new product and there is still a risk that the P1S value will suffer from that (if you want to sell your printer in the coming year for exemple). But if my budget was tight if I kept my printers for a long time and I am most concern about the print quality, no way I would prefer the P2S to the P1S : for the price difference I 'd rather take more filament, or a AMS HT as the part quality will be exactly the same in the end. If you like having the last products available and like to tinker them, maybe you will enjoy the P2S more

@dedge thanks for that awesome review. Helps a lot

Daniel.

@Wind

thats a good point, I a not limited in my budget, so I will think about the H2S. It’s a proved printer, so I think it would be much better.

@Dedge: you say about the P2S: “the nozzle cleaning system is really a mess, and my printer bottom is covered in filament strands. I had to create an additional wiper system and as far as I see many users download it from Makerworld so I am not the only one to seek for a improvement in this area.”

What wiper system are you reffering to? Can you share a Makerworld link please?

Sure, here it is : https://makerworld.com/models/1924479
The primary goal was to have a better clearing solution for the nozzle tip. With this part it is way better in my case.
But there are still some debris going everywhere as the filament is oozing a bit just before it goes to the calibration line. A gcode modification with some more wiping could solve that I think, but never tried

Interresting, I don’t have such issues with my P2S. It is just out of the box working fine.
Perhaps you are using other sort of fillament? Im still using PLA (Bamboo and BASF until now)

…that´s what i wrote. Many P2S worked fine but not all.
But Daniel think about a H2S, so the question P1S or P2S is no longer present.
good print guy´s :call_me_hand:

Hey, so i checked everything… the H2S is a little bit to big for the space i have (Laser, cnc, 2 A1‘s, they all togehter need so much space) so i will give the P2S a shot! I belive that this Printer will work fine! Will se! Unfortunally i have to wait until end of december.

I agree. Something here. I went with P2S. It isn’t even a thought, when you consider ABS Pro and the Touch Screen on P2S is amazing, and much easier to use.

I have a P2S. It’s brilliant at small/medium pieces but not good with larger prints (warping and other issues). My brother-in-law has a P1S and no issues. It’s already a more solid machine if you read the reviews and cheaper. He bought it when it had been out 5 months so any early issues with parts and profiles had been ironed out. I’d go for the P1S.

I never look on the P1S screen…why?
There is no reason except of nozzle change (stainless to hardered).
All i need is in Bambustudio or on Bambuhandy.
The colored touchscreen is nice to have but not important.

I love the H2D and X1C touchscreen and i didnt love the old P1S screen… but … i bought 2 more P1S for my lab and thinking about to buy some more as they are greater on value/performance now…
I was thinking about the P2S but the P1S will do the same job for me as i dont need to make then use nothing more then PLA and some PETG as i can print Asa and CF filaments on the other bigger printers so i think much depend on what you need to print… i still love the easy-go on the P1S… i only hate the slow connection but i still can print w/o problems…

so think about your prints before the printer

Hi if you could help me as fast as possible so I don’t have a 3d printer but i am getting one but I can’t deside to get the p1s or the p2s and i want the combo of booth of them but I don’t want to spend 800$ and the p1s in the combo is the perfect price so if you could help me as fast as possible that would be much apreshated thank you
