To add the 3 x 3M washer, do I need to remove the entire extruder gear and all those little gears, or can I simply unscrew the screw on the right of the PTFE tube, add the washer, and then screw it back without removing the extruder? I hope this trick works, as I have tried literally everything I can. If it still doesn’t work, I am considering selling this P2S to someone and going back to my P1S or A1, or just trying other brands.
Oh my fault, all I saw was a picture of the top of the print head where you were pointing out the screw from the top. I didnt see any pictures of disassembly, a picture of a little spring or the washers…etc. Perhaps I missed all those?
Some tips that worked for me so far:
I think the issue, as @PToTheJ mentioned, is related to the tension screw. Instead of using three 3mm washers on the tension screw, I tightened it all the way (firmly, but without excessive force). Then I loosened it by turning it anti-clockwise about half a turn (for example, from the 6 o’clock position to 12 o’clock).
After that, I ran a standard first layer test. If the error appeared, I loosened it by another half turn. If no error showed but the first layer looked poor (e.g., filament not extruding smoothly), I tightened it slightly (about a quarter turn).
From there, I continued making small adjustments until the first layer printed cleanly with no errors.
Once it looked good, I tested with:

a small print (~2 hours)

a medium print (~5 hours)

a large print (~8 hours)
So far, all three completed successfully without any errors. Hopefully it stays that way ![]()
I had this extruder overloaded problem on my P2S with about 400 hrs. Cleaned hotend. Did cold pull. Printed the first layer of another model and the problem happened again. Cleaned nozzle again. Same problem. Removed nozzle. Removed and disassembled extruder. Not as easy as with a P1S. Was completely clean inside. Put it back together. Cleaned nozzle again. Ran 25cm of cleaning filament through nozzle. Put PTFE tube back and it’s been printing fine ever since. I have no idea why it’s better, but I’m glad it’s working great again. From now on, I’ll be religious about using cleaning filament after clearing a clog.
@formergeek cleaning filament mean a special filament just for the cleaning purposes? Never know there is such filament exist.
Quick update on my situation: things have gone sideways again. After those three successful prints, the errors returned. I’ve spent the last few hours ruling things out:

Clogs: Heated to 270°C, used a needle, and performed two cold pulls. The nozzle looks spotless.

Heat Creep: Switched to a cold plate (45°C bed), opened the door, and removed the top glass. Ambient is 30°C and chamber is around 33-37°C—surely not enough for heat creep?

AMS: Bypassed the AMS and buffer entirely to print via a manual feed.
Even with all that, the error popped up again after 20 minutes. I pulled the hotend to inspect it, and there’s absolutely nothing stuck or shredded inside. I’m officially out of ideas.
I use the eSun cleaning filament from Amazon. Even after a cold pull, it found gunk in the hotend. I remove the PTFE tube from the extruder, set the temp to 250, and manually run 10” or so through.
The screw in the picture gets completely unscrewed and you put three 3M washers onto the threads of the screw and tension the screw back in. Effectively- the spring (that the tension screw is attached to); has 1.5mm of breathing room that it didn’t have before. I didn’t add pictures of unscrewing the tension screw, and putting the washers in as I thought it was self explanatory. If you really want me to give a picture tutorial, I will, though.
Thats how I started my fix too, and it works for maybe a few hundred hours of print time, but the screw moves around if you lax the tension and eventually the errors return. The only way to prevent it long term is to put a physical block on how close the screw can get to the spring its attached to on the innards.
Yes turning that screw back 2 and a quarter turn worked for me but no washer yet. I’ve been printing nonstop PETG and pla. Thanks! But if it comes back I’ll make sure to get a washer.

Understood, and yes, I’ve also noticed that the screw tends to move over time. So I guess my previous method may not be a permanent solution.
As mentioned earlier, the issue came back again yesterday. This time, I followed some AI recommendations and made a few adjustments, which seem to be working well so far. Here’s what I changed:

Nozzle temperature: set to 230°C

Flow ratio: increased from the default 0.92 to 0.97 (option was up to 1.0)

Cooling: set both the compartment fan and support fan to 70%
For my setup, I’m using a cold plate, with the top glass removed and the front door closed. The ambient temperature is around 30°C, and the printer shows an internal temperature of about 33°C.
Since making these changes, it has been running smoothly from yesterday afternoon until now. I’ve completed a few prints successfully with no issues. Hopefully it stays stable.
Screw and washer sets are generally £10-15 for me, given I’m always fixing my bike - I had them already. Cheap anyway - good luck! ![]()
Dont burden yourself, but if you are ever back in there snap a couple, im more of a visual learner and I love to see thing disassembled and all that so I know what to expect should I ever dig in. Thats not just with printers. I’ll watch an entire disassembly video on any topic before I dive in to something. Allows me to account for any unforeseen things that might pop out during disassembly or understand what can and cannot forced lol. Things like that.
I am getting the same problem. I have 21 P2S printers printing PLA Matte and PLA Tough+ with 0.6mm nozzles. Recently extruder motor overloads have started - the printers have around 450 hours. Replacing the nozzle seems to be a short term fix but it recurs.

i heard that capricorn(?) tube has less resistance and is stiffer
I couldn’t say. I’ve been happy with PTFE tubing from BL or Aliexpress.
I am a newbie here, bought my p2s about 3 weeks ago. Everything was printing fine until just a couple of days ago. Same as everyone else I keep getting the error message about extruder overload. I have dimantled my printer several times now (I am now fully familiarized with all of the parts and pieces!!!). But it keeps happening. I took someones advice and just said that I fixed the problem and it did begin printing again. Has anyone figured out what the problem is?
@BambuLab This seems to be a regular issue with ALL OF US!! Do we need to all put in tickets to get this addressed? Word is now coming out about all the massive amounts of time wasted on these errors? You need the dev team on this. It will start cutting into your bottom line if word of mouth starts turning ugly. Every post is frustrating your customers.
