I’m in the same position. I’ve opened a ticket, and if they tell me to open the door to remove heat. The printer will be being returned as it was marketed as a self-contained, automatic cooling/heating chamber.
That statement, honestly, brought a smile of resignation to my face. It truly seems that their arrogant attitude is consistent across their global customer base.
I really cant think of any way that opening the door improves anything or should?
Temperature change inside the extruder will be negligible?
Started my first print and so far it worked. But I am currently at 50% failure rate of the extruder…(yes I keep track :D)
@Outis for my P1S I had the same issue. But with the PTFE Guide (multiple versions on Mkaerworld) and with am 45mm riser I designed myself I never had this issue once more.
@man1ac I agree, it should be completely negligible, but based on the feedback i’m seeing, BBL response is to open the door. not idea.
I’ve dialled my temperatures back a notch to 55 °C bed/220 °C nozzle from 60/230, and turned off automatic flow calibration, and the print is now a success… for now. I will do another right after.
But i’m similar, if not worse off. 10 Prints so far, 8 failed from extruder overload.

These issues occurred right out of the box, with default settings.
You should forward this statement directly to the management at the manufacturing facility: Customers pay money for a finished product, not to perform your quality assurance or repair your machinery.
I think thats a bit drastic, but yes: For a premium priced printer with the eco system Bambulab claims to have this cant happen (but it will, tbh).
Its acceptable to ask the customer for pictures & videos (I think its mainly for the customer to spot anything themselves) - but absolutely unacceptable to suggest “just open the door” ![]()
@Outis I never use automatic flow calibration. I started calibrating every filament on every printer. Especially when moving from P1S to P2S i can see drastic differences in settings (for example my flow reduced 1% on the P2S with PETG, K factor went up from 0.4 to 0.55)
Thank you for sharing your experience. Regarding the automatic flow calibration, based on Bambu Lab’s promotional materials, I always assumed it was an advanced feature that calibrated while the model was actively printing.
If it only performs an automatic calibration before the print begins, then there is truly no difference from doing a manual calibration, and in my opinion, it is even less accurate than judging it by eye.
This honestly might be contributing to the issue - user error - I tried to match my P1S profiles to the P2S… I probably should just do a manual flow calibration instead of using the profiles on my P1S
@man1ac , checked this morning and the hotend is sitting correctly but I can’t say if that was correct when I was having the problems. I’ve had the hotend out and back in a few times and maybe I seated it correctly without knowing it was wrong.
When I did take the extruder apart it was spotless and all I did was put it back together, cleaned the nozzle a couple of times and its been fine.
However, if I get the same errors again, it will be getting reported officially.
I would hope that someone from BBL are monitoring these forums and taking note of the issues.
Same, tried to convert all P1 Filaments to P2. Doesnt seem right.
Im doing auto flow dynamics and manual flow for every filament now. And max flowrate, getting between 38 and 42 mm³/sec on eSun / sunlu / eryone. Reliable printing speed has increesed so much.
For those following along at home - A pretty 0/10 response from BBL support… No S…t clean the extruder… it’s the only way i can continue.

I didn’t realise I was buying a 90% built machine…
It’s a hard one to say whether the nozzle is seated correctly, as there isn’t an actual slot for the nozzle to fit into, it’s kinda just left hanging, hoping it’s under the extruder hole. I’ve been told the issue is an incorrectly fitted nozzle from factory also.
Well, I guess I should have seen this coming. Hey ho, 2.5hours into a print and 3 layers left to go and “Boom” - “The Extruder Head is overloaded”. Same error every time.
Cleaned the nozzle AGAIN, Cleaner the extruder AGAIN.
Official ticket now gone in, this is not an isolated issue and pretty hacked off at the minute as there is clearly a hardware issue somewhere on their new printer.
I’ve done less than 20 prints for christ’s sake!
I guess I’m going to get the same response as everyone else who put in a ticket and told to check my settings.
I have the same problem. Each time, the print stopped after 3 minutes. After several attempts, cleaning the nozzle, etc., I loaded the filament into the external feeder. The print has now been running for 15 minutes without interruption. Could someone test this?
Sorry, it didn’t help. After 20 minutes the same message appeared ![]()
Maybe this happened after the last update? From what I’ve read, they added “Optimized machine anomaly detection logic and enabled extruder motor overload detection.”
