P2S: Extruder Overload

Same thing happened to me… after just five prints… I’ve cleaned both the nozzle and the extruder, but I’m still seeing a lot of VFAs…
With each print, the results are getting slightly better, so hopefully it’ll sort itself out soon.
I’ve already done a few prints since the cleaning, and I’ll post an update if the issue comes back.

Since I mounted the hotend corrently with the clamp I havent had an error since.

for you other guys: definitely test to remove the glass ceiling & the tie that holds the PTFE to the cable duct. See if that does something.

My nozzle clamp was set correctly.
So far, I’ve done:
-Cleaning the nozzle
-Cleaning the extruder
-Checking the clamp
-Recalibration
-Removing the top cover
-Feeding filament externally (outside the AMS)
Nothing fixed the problem.

I’ll now try removing the plastic PTFE clamp. I’ll also remove the cover. I’ll let you know

Update: The above did not solve the problem. I removed the top cover and the PTFE clip. Still the same error.

The support response from BBL to me was that was that :
"Since the P2S uses the Bambu Lab high-precision servo motor and replaces the previous wrapping material detection, the detection sensitivity has been improved. Based on the phenomenon you described - the motor overload occurred 2 to 3 hours after printing, I speculate that this is due to heat creep causing the filament to deform due to heat inside the extruder, which in turn leads to blockage.

You can refer to the wiki below to check whether the internal conditions of the extruder conform to the characteristics of heat creep.

In addition, if the filament gets stuck in the spool, it will also cause the same error message. You can check the condition of the filament and whether the spool rotates normally.

I didn’t think that the enclose was too hot while printing with the door closed but I’ve not has the issue since printing with the door open and the glass off the top.

It ran for some long prints yesterday (approx. 3hous and 6hour prints) and all OK.

That’s nonsense. I printed with the top cover removed and the door open, and the problem still occurred.

My print stops after 10-15 minutes, during which time the temperature rises to a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.

It may be nonsence @Hasky but my printer seems to have settled down. I can’t explain why but my inexperience printing inside an enclosed environment might have contributed to my issues.

Some of my failures definitely looked like heat creep.
It only failed once after a few mins of printing and this was not long after I’d got the printer and before I’d checked and cleaned everything.

It’s great that it solved the problem for you, but are you satisfied with this solution? The printer is advertised as one that solves the problem of chamber overheating, so such advice from technical support should not be given. Besides, in my case, I don’t exceed 35 degrees in the chamber, which is far from the softening temperature of filament, even PLA.

Could you tell me what you’re printing with, what the nozzle and bed temperatures are, and what nozzle you’re using?

I’ve only been printing with brand new BBL PLA for nearly all the prints.
I’ve an old EloGoo PLA spool that I’ve swapped from the outside spool to the AMS for multi colours and printed with both.

I will say that it didn’t matter if I was printing single or multi coloured.
The time printing seemed to be the main issue when mine were failing after about 2.5 hours into a print.

I just used standard print profiles from the files and haven’t adjusted any nozzle or bed temperatures so I think most would be at around 55 bed and 220 nozzle.
It the 0.4mm nozzle that shipped with the P2S.

I was also surprised by the response to just open the doors as it might be overheating.

I don’t know what the chamber temp was when it failed (with the door closed) but I’ve been keeping an eye on it while printing with the doors open and its never got above 27 since then.

I guess, if I try with the door closed again and something fails, I’ll take note of all the temps at the time to see if that helps track things down.

I tested it on another filament – PETG – and it works fine for me. I don’t know if it’s a matter of brand or type. The PLA that didn’t work was Devil Design, the PETG that works is Bambu. That’s a bit reassuring, but it’s still unacceptable for the printer to be picky about random filaments, especially when you don’t know why…

I’m really disappointed to see that other people are experiencing the same issue as I am.
It’s becoming very frustrating — sometimes I get this “Extruder Overloaded” error.

I unmounted the extruder just one week after receiving the printer — my very first printer — which was advertised as “easy and quick to use.” Yet I had to perform a complex operation right away, something I had never done before.

Now this overload issue happens randomly — sometimes after 10 minutes of printing, sometimes after 2 hours. I’ve tried different filaments (both Bambu original and third-party ones), PETG, PLA, ABS — nothing changes. It’s totally random.

It’s really annoying to wake up in the morning and find the print stopped six hours earlier because of an unexplained error. Even worse, when I press “Resume,” it continues and finishes the remaining 3.5 hours of the print without any issue — big “LOL” moment for me.

I can’t find any clear information from Bambu about this problem. They just suggested I open a tech support ticket — I really hope they won’t tell me to “just open the door,” because that would be an unacceptable response.

Since this post hasn’t had any replies for six days, has anyone received any update about this issue?

Same! This is my first Bambu printer. I had a Prusa Mk4.

I had 5 immaculate, perfect prints with the Bambu P2S on day 1. Incredible, so easy.

Then… Extruder overload. What the hell. This is the type of problem that i absolutely hated on the Prusa, and WHY i switched to Bambu.
I am printing on Bambu PETG, with the AMS 2 Pro.

Anyway, a few thoughts:

  1. thinking back… i clicked “Update Firmware”. The next print, an issue happened. Perhaps the firmware update sucked.
  2. The QR code link that the P2S screen threw up with the Extruder error took me to a Mandarin page. It wasn’t helpful…but there was a video
  3. I pulled a little of the wispy filament away, tried the whole print again… same issue
  4. I hit “problem solved” on the printer to manually override… seems to be working now. I had to pause the print and trim away a little excess PETG, but my print is now 15 mins in and working fine (on Ludicrous speed!).

Will report back if the issue doesn’t resolve.

My next steps are to downgrade the Firmware (if possible, i will see)

I don’t have any extruder overload false positive alerts on my P2S, and i have the last firmware installed.

About 200 hours in and I’m getting this error suddenly. I have been testing different solutions one at a time, and the only thing that allows a successful print is printing from an external spool.

I believe the error is related to the filament buffer (some odd sounds occasionally coming from it) or maybe the AMS. I’m leaning towards a sensor issue somewhere which is throwing up false errors.

For me it’s definitely not the extruder or nozzle as I can easily manually run filament through without issue (plus print from the external spool).

Совершенно идентичная ситуация, все разобрали, проверили, пытался по-разному подавать филамент, результат один и тот же выдает ошибку.
Все началось с печати Petg на 7 часов, все было нормально первые 3-4 часа, оставил его и пошёл спать, утром выдал ошибку, после этого выдает ошибку каждые 5-10 минут. При этом слышен шум двигателя над экструдером, как будто не справляется с натяжением нитки.
У кого щелкает при печати?

Проблему решил, проблема в сопле, он забит, нужно хорошенько почистить его, это очень сложно, но по другому не получится.

  • Уберите филамент
  • Нагрейте горячий конец до 300 градусов, подождите, большая часть остатков выйдет самостоятельно.
  • начните чистить иголкой и остатки пластика будет выходить дальше.
  • после этого не снижая температуру снимите горячую головку и засуньте иглу с другого конца на максимум, пусть зайдет с ручкой.
    (Горячий конец держите хлопковой тряпкой или перчаткой чтобы не обжечься), потяните иголку с той стороны до конца и крутите.
    Как только почувствуете, что пластик остывает вытаскивайте иголку обратно, сделайте это несколько раз и все получится.

    В дальнейшем предлагаю купить не оригинальный горячий конец в котором выкручивается головка, его легче почистить или даже заменить на другой.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? With 0.4 nozzle I don’t seem to have any problems but when using the 0.2 and standard Bambu PLA i get extruder overload errors, non stop. Kind of sad, seeing that my A1-mini never had a single failed print.

How we going with this? I seem to have fully resolved by turning flow calibration off.

Im also having this problem. Error is on 0.2 nozzle, happening after about 30 mins of printing, error „extruder motor overloaded”, only thing i can do is remove extruder and remove filament clog from it. It’s really annoying because i bought this printer to make my production faster but only good old A1 works without errors…

New to 3D print here. After 3 successful prints, I started getting the AMS error and the extruder overload error. Pretty darn annoying. I really don’t want to disassemble the extruder as I’ve never done it and specially with a machine brand new. Im using BBL Black PLA basic. right before it fails, I hear some clicking sounds from the extruder, I believe gears are skipping right before it happens but then I just hit continue and all good for another 5-10 minutes.

Currently not liking BBL’s “ease of use” tbh
