"Shiny" textured build plate?

Got my H2D a few days ago and so far it is doing its job just fine. But one thing I noticed is that the textured (gold) build plate seems to be different from the one on my P1S. The one in my P1S results in a more matte finish, compared to the H2D one, which is more shiny. Looking at the plate itself, the texture is slightly different. I do prefer the more matte look. The attached photo shows the difference. Both models were printed with Bambu PLA matte.
Does anyone know an aftermarket build plate that gives the same matte look as the “old” P1S one?

I also noticed that the textured plate was not the sam

e. I prefer the x1/p1 version.

I lost my original P1S, and ordered a second one about 2 months ago, and the sheet on it was very similar to the sheet on my H2D. Not seeing a real difference myself. Maybe there was a change in venders not too long ago.

How does one lose a printer?

Unfortunately, in a fire.

That is sad to hear! Hopefully not caused by a 3D printer?

No, mother nature and SCE decided it was time to re-decorate the city. Caught up in the LA fires.

Yes I believe its got an oleophobic coating for better adhesion, I posted about it earlier. The adhesion is much better than X1/P1 gold plate, I even printed polycarb without adhesive on it yesterday and it stuck very well.

Yes, the adhesion is fantastic. I really have to let the sheet cool down completely, otherwise models are quite hard to remove. Great for models where the surface finish aesthetics are not important.
I just don’t like it on some designs where the bottom layer is, let’s say, the top cover of an enclosure. Especially when printing in matte black.
I’ll probably order one from Aliexpress and hope I can find one that is similar to the P/X/A series one.
I’ve read the other thread. Thanks for the link! I hope that someone finds a similar one.
-edit- Just saw that you ordered one from Aliexpress. I hope you can share the results soon.

I actually prefer the textured plate’s aesthetics

But again, My P1 plate is very similar, if not the same.

I have noticed what look like stress marks a lot more with this plate, especially on black but a quick pass with a lighter brings it back to normal

I do see more stress marks too. And the new plate seems to have better adhesion, so stress marks make sense in that context.

For somewhile, I have been using Magigoo with great success on my build plates on an X1C and a couple of bed slinger printers. My H2D however as consistently had adhesion problems so I’m wondering if there is some compatibility problem with Magigoo on this new “shiny” textured build plate. Has anyone else run into this?

Ive printed PLA, ABS-GF, ASA, Polycarbonate and Nylon and have not needed any adhesives yet. I ordered a plain 3rd party PEI plate for use with nano polymer adhesive as the stock plate with the coating has amazing adhesion and I have a feeling the adhesive wont be good for the coating on the OEM plate. What filaments are you having adhesion issues with?

me in a short circuit and burnt the mainboard of my a1 sad ending :frowning:

PLA when failures occurred, I have only done a few small PETG prints so far with no failures there.

Does your plate feel slightly tacky to the touch, or dry? If its tacky like mine maybe try to print on it without any adhesives, ive had very good grip with PLA. To the point the bottom needs a pass with a blow torch due to too much adhesion.

I think you may be correct, I’ll clean up the plate and try using it bare. I have been spoiled using Magigoo on other printers, with only a gentle wipe down with water between prints.

I am having problems with my H2D giving ghost images of previous prints onto my bottom surface with this textured plate. I treat this plate in the exact same way as my X1C textured PEI plate - Clean with dishsoap after every print and dry with a clean paper towel, no touching the build area with hands - but I am still getting the ghosting after taking my time to thoroughly clean it. I have tried also going over it with IPA and then rinsing again but it still persists.

If I hold it in the light at the right angle I can just about see the areas on the plate where there are ghosts. One side of it isnt really useable now for prints where I need a perfect surface on the bottom, which is about 75% of what I do. A bit rubbish compared to my X1 textured plate that has close to 3000 hours on it and is still great.

Is this something most people consider necessary?
