Speculation about new printer announcements

I like how @streetsports is getting straight to the kernel of things without missing a beat. From the bottom of all our hearts, thank you! :heart_eyes:

You guys have a specific model you want me to print? Finishing pa test on petg-hf now

That is quite good; otherwise, it would be an extra expense or work.
I was surprised by the z-offset macro. Isn“t it automatic? Or do you still need to do the trimming procedure? Or maybe to give the user the option to edit it?

Probably for applying your own offset to its discovered offset, if you wanted to fine-tune for some reason. Sometimes people want more or less squash on the first layer, for whatever reason.

This. I didnt need to adjust it. The sensor must be really sensitive.

In my case, I would agree with this, especially since the X1C tops the Max3 on print quality. But if the Plus4 really does beat the X1C on print quality, like Aurora claims, such as no VFA’s, and maybe even overall, then that’s a watershed moment. X1C held its own for over two years, which is a good testiment to it. However, to date there has been no effort on Bambu’s part, other than the motor noise firmware upgrade, to address VFA’s, and I’m afraid now that lack of action–despite loud complaints here on this forum–is coming home to roost. If somebody else does it better, you can’t blame people for gravitating to that. There was plenty of advance warning that was seemingly ignored. I say seemingly, because (hopefully) it will be fixed in whatever Bambu releases next. If not, then… don’t forget to turn out the lights! :upside_down_face:

Where did you end up finding QR code? Was just watching a YouTube review, they said they couldn’t find it so hadn’t tried the app

New logo? And only manual 6 speeds? No 9 speeds automatic? Hmm…

@drakko
350z love. I was shamed into changing it lol. JK

I’d say print something you’re familiar with and have already printed on the X1C. Then do a side by side comparison on print quality. I think that’s what would be of greatest interest right now. Viewing test prints in isolation isn’t as helpful. It’s in the comparisons that the truth comes out.

If you can, do it with the exact same filament. If at all possible, from the same spool even. That’s my main criticism of Aurora’s test prints. She’s comparing prints done with different filaments, and as we all know, filaments can make a difference in how a print turns out. As witnessed by Bambu’s recent switch to PETG-HF, not all PETG’s are the same. And so it goes with any filament type.

I am referring to my P1S.

Added some more to my long post above.
Fell asleep, but ill do more testing today. My conclusion so far is still the same.

Which is? Lay it out. (blah, blah, 25 characters)

@drakko
Ive been adding to my long post. Conclusion at the bottom.

Since it’s a toss-up, if you have the energy remaining to run the Orca Slicer VFA test on both and show the results, it might be a tie breaker, at least as reported by NeedItMakeIt on one of his test prints.

I barely hold myself not to shout ou loud " told ya so". If one looks around, one notices that BL design and approach has been largely copied by many manufacturers. BL has thrown them a curved fast ball, and now everyone is playing catch up. Most have learned a thing or two from BL printers, and are trying to grab customers and some market shares. It’s open customer hunting season folks. And Qidi, among many others, are trying to get some foothold on the house users and prosumer market.

If your estimate proves to be true, and BL does launch a better, larger, improved, more reliable, a truly multimaterial printer, znd an easier nozzle/toolheads swaps (you may call it ā€œXLā€; i will call it ā€œX2 seriesā€), then there will be no need for holding on, on any Qidi (or similars)… at least from my perspective. The X2/XL will take the lead again.

I think its just going to be a larger x1e that uses a1 bits and looks different. If so, it will be $3,000 or more. To get below $2,000, it would need to be something like 300mm, a1 bits and no heated chamber. My guesses based on their current lineup and pricing. If they they price it cheap, and offer an x1e level experience it would kill their whole existing enclosed lineup.

Im just hoping its big, enclosed, uses a1 bits and has dual heads that each get an ams. That will supply something that nobody else is doing and justify the needed asking price. I can add a heater and dont need ethernet. Oh and they also need to license out the a1 nozzle design. Aslo, ditch the lidar for cost savings. Im sure the eddy sensor is cheaper

I think BL can’t afford to launch a newer flagship without a heated chamber, easily swappable toolheads/nozzles, a larger print bed and additional bells & whistles. Obviously, it could cost more, and most likely it will be highly priced… but i also think that BL will come up with other versions of the new printer, targeting lower tier consumers (lower priced), very much like they did with X1, P1 and A1 series.

Does the nozzle assembly have any lower rail slop? Saw the review where the upper rail has roller bearings in head unit, lower rail has a glued in the head nylon bushing(one side wasn’t glued creating a little play, placed foam behind it to keep it tight).
