The hand tuned benchy on the x1c and p1s require you to put it in ludicrous mode
This is why I stopped caring about benchy speed test. Like theyâre specialized/customized to go as fast, as how do they really represent real world usage/performance.

What do you use instead? How do you judge it?
With modern machines, the speed of them isnât as much of a factor like it use to be. I value quality print over speed, and my settings are typically tuned that way. In the past, pre-bambu and klipper, things were much slower so it was a bigger factor in things compared to now days.
I use to mainly print benchyâs to see where the quality level was at with a given machine. If I was tuning things, upgrading, modding, etc. Benchyâs all day. These days, I just donât feel that same need.
When I got my X1C originally, I printed a full R/C truck on it. I put the peddle to the metal and never looked back.
So, for me, the benchy speed test doesnât tell me what I want/need to know. It seems more like pointless flexing to me. Although this is me and my use case. I can still see the value others would find.
I guess in some way itâs like saying the little FWD version of a car is totally awesome because the AWD highly tuned race version placed well in itâs races. theyâre the same car, but not the same. Iâve seen a ford escort that can tear it up, but Iâve also seen a ford escort that can barely get up to speed, so.
[edit] wait, I guess that didnât actually answer the question. I donât know, I just throw stuff at the machine now days and see how it goes. with the H2D, Iâm going to feed it prints that traditionally had issues on the X1/P1 printers. From the reviews, it looks like some of the mechanically caused printing issues have been improved.
If you watch the timelapse you can see the tree support for the chin failed. The reviewer didnât mention this as this isnât really related to the printer hardware.

Any model that has support fail will print poorly. The fact that supports can fail is just what happens in 3d printing. It doesnât need to be addressed.
It seems you are hyper focusing in on a detail that isnât really an issue. That being said, if this âquality flawâ is a deal breaker for you then donât buy the printer? There are PLENTY of other options.

Youâre shifting the goal post here. First you were all bent out of shape about a printing defect, now itâs because you donât like being advertised to? Advertising is the whole point of hyping up a release date. If the printer/company isnât for you, thatâs 100% okay.
Failures donât need to be addressed?!
Thatâs a bizarre attitude, given that a major part of engineering development is addressing failures.

If a successful print requires supports, then why not?
Iâm assuming maybe @JonRaymond means there are a lot of support parameters that could be tweaked that would make it work? Branching factors, limb thicknes, interface depth,⌠itâs a long list. Iâm still learning what is what, in part because the in-line documentation is a bit telegraphic. Maybe meant to remind more than teach.
Support actually should be one of the strongest points of this printer, while you will be able to print support separately with the other nozzle.
Avoiding material contamination and other problems that may occur while printing different materials through the same nozzle.
And supports can be pretty important for a print. It even might make the difference between finishing or failing (with a printer full of âspaghettiâ) a print.
But I believe that specific print was just printed in one material (not looked it back).
And like all printers, there might be a lot of factors that could cause errors. It could be the filament, bad slicing or bad airflow etc. So it posible should not be addressed directly to the printer to be honest.
The tree that was supposed to support his chin (and probabl eye slit in helmet) disappeared part-way through the time-lapse.



Maybe the toolhead knocked it over? Or it had poor bed adhesion? A thicker tree trunk and thicker tree limbs would be worth trying to give it more strength. You could also paint on more support for his chin to recruit more trees to support that area.

Simply because the video is centered around the initial review of the printer not about how to print that particular model. If support failed on a bunch of other models, yes this would be more important to address as it would be a broader problem.
If you need a theory of what happened, my guess is that there was some fingerprints on the bed which caused the little tree support to detach mid print and lead to the overhang problem. Another theory is that the door was open for the camera time lapse and the air movement in the room cooled the front tree support and popped it off of the bed.
