But maybe for the point scammers?
As long as I get a blanket pass, I wasn’t great before the brain tumour started crushing my brain, these days it is way harder.
Man these people get on my nerves. Yes, there is always room for improvement… but NOT on MW ratings @MakerWorld, you need to change the text that shows up when people click the stars to be 1: Could not print; 2: Printed, but not well; 3: Printed okay; 4: Could be better; 5: Perfect Edit: Just got another one, basically same interaction.
Fun:
Creative Desgin (removed first part of name, but if you dig you’ll find it): Great
Me: Why only four stars?
Them: I didn’t want to be over enthusiastic
Me: Okay, well it hurts the model so I’d appreciate if you could edit it to be 5.
Them: I think 4 is fine, 2 or 3 stars will hurt the model. I think you should be glad I gave 4…
No, I am not “glad” that I got a 4 star rating. That is a bad rating. 2 or 3 stars will hurt the model… as will 4 stars. I’m sure someone who misspelled their name knows best though. This is getting out of hand.
Yup, I’ve not really had the best luck trying to get past the entitled attitude of some reviewers like they gain something by withholding stars. A good example was a christmas ornament I made with cursive letters on it - they weren’t perfectly detailed, but were never meant to be, as it is just a small christmas ornament as clearly shown in the pictures.
The reviewer felt it should have been more perfectly detailed, after printing…ok, but that is never what was represented?
On one hand, it’s splitting hairs. On the other hand, if we know we aren’t making perfect things and we’re just making things for others to have/use that they otherwise can’t, the rating system needs to be based on the accuracy of what is represented by the designer in pictures and description versus what prints. Not a rating based on how they feel about it lol.
I don’t think we’ll ever make that happen though. But some clarity in messaging from Makerworld would of course help.
No offence is meant by this ,but they do gain something, because here you all are complaining they aint awarded you what you think the model deserves
Ah, but it’s not rating the model it’s rating the profile. If it printed without flaws it’s a good profile. That’s that. It may not be world’s best model, but it’s a fine profile if it prints.
What is it they gained exactly?
my bad misuse of model, its the same thing to me a print profile of a model ,
or print profile , and assume satisfaction from the attention they are getting
Are you trying to tell me, when I select a model to print from handy, the app isn’t actually summoning the creator to send it to my printer?!?
I scaled one of yours down a bit, been awhile since I did it. Functions just like full size, but it’s really too small to be an effective fidget spinner.
Any suggestions?
Just be sure to rate it with one star for being the size you scaled it to…
That is printed at normal size, you just have a weirdly large hand!
i’d like to share a more positive outcome, we all know that makerworld - well bambulab in general - is often the first experience that users have with 3d printing, and very often the comments show that there’s a lot of people that have just started their learning journey, and are excited about it but are not yet used to troubleshooting printing errors
i believe as designers we can give some pointers to help people get better prints, as illustrated below:
i know that some people are resistant to feedback or never engage with the replies we offer, but every now and again it’s rewarding to help fellow enthusiasts improve their prints
I always attempt to if they mention adhesion issues. E.g. print with the lid/door open, wash with soap and water, consider glue, etc. They usually just ignore me, but every bit helps
yeah sometimes they do, but i notice on your post above where you were showing you wanted someone to change from 4 to 5, i don’t agree with that, sometimes people are ok with how it turns out, but end up not really loving the design once they have it in hand, and a 4 is a good rating, i don’t get bothered by those at all, 3 or lower it’s either a printing issue, or they really didn’t like the design, which makes one wonder why they printed it in the first place
I don’t necessarily mind a 4 star. I mind that if the average goes below four stars I don’t get any points for the profile. In addition, I welcome constructive feedback and ideas, but I don’t appreciate frivolous lower ratings. If it has no issues, it’s a five-stars in my book. If it’s especially amazing, it gets a boost.
I always reply to those, I consider it force feedback, like the game controllers.
I had one guy take it as an insult that I suggested his built plate needed a clean because of what he said in his review.
He got angry, as if it is was a personal slight rather than a maintenance suggestion!
