Too many posts in Community are just people begging for boosts

Just an example but scrolling through the community feed it seems like at least 1/3rd of the posts are people begging for boosts/downloads of their very generic remix models so that they can get points for giftcards.

I can’t find but are there guidelines for these community posts anywhere? I can’t imagine this sort of thing is what they want people doing with the Community feature.

I was JUST looking for the release notes related to that rollout to see if it mentions any guidelines. If anyone has them, please share

Even MW themselves don’t have one yet so general MW one applies AFAIU:

Begging for stuff would be understandable, but stuff like “boost-for-boost” type of posts is big nono. If you’d like to see first impressions people had with begs, spams, scams and all that fun goodies check out whole thread here:

I wonder if there are still fake giveaways…

So far every post I’ve reported that was begging for boosts, downloads or follows has been deleted. All the fake contests by that one guy have been deleted. That one in your screen shot was one of the most ridiculous ones. That kid only had one model and it was a sax mouthpiece stolen from a commercial site, the model even had a small model number on it. The pictures he had on the model were stolen from a different site and didn’t match the model. Even with all that he had gotten 27 boosts on it just from begging. As of this morning the model was removed, hopefully his points too. One thing that I don’t understand, the accounts like that one that are blatantly trying to game the system for a free printer, why doesn’t MW ban them?

Glad i am not the only one to see what is obvious. That sax piece, i saw it from the start. And now that it’s gone, check also one of his followers, Owen. Let me know if you find anything obvious

Wow, lol. Lots of similarities, he said he loves math in the profile, the other guy’s screen name is “Sqaureroot”. He has an instrument mouthpiece too… and he’s asking for boosts. I saw Sqaureroot claimed to boost the propeller 3 times. Owen posted comments on his own models like “looks great!” and “flies great!” as if people can’t see it’s from him lol.

I also saw something I didn’t know was possible. On Owens “Trumpet Mouthpiece” the only print profile is for a Prusa MK3s. I thought the print profiles had to be for Bambu printers?

Again, good to know that i am not the only one noticing those kind of things

Makerworld should hire me as a model moderator. The website sure was cleaner. And with internal tools it’s not that hard to see who has several accounts.

I was thinking the same thing!! We could have so much fun cleaning it up. Hopefully they have an “IP” field for each profile in the database so they can match them up. I think these are all kids and I doubt they are using a proxy since they’re so open about asking to trade boosts.

I hadn’t checked the Community section but, yikes! I guess it is ok to trade boosts since people are actively matchmaking for trading them.

Not sure I understand Bambu’s reasoning for allowing such a free for all but wow. Will try posting to highlight some stuff though. Might as well I guess.

I honestly don’t think they do any active moderation, I think they just respond to reports. So far every “boost for boost” post I’ve reported has been deleted. But the next day different people will have done the same thing. Maybe there should be some sort of warning left behind when MW deletes a post? Like “This post was removed due to a violation of Makerworld rules”…so other people will actually realize where those posts went.

Ive tested 2 uploads. no reaction to either, to be fair they’re just…uploads.

They quickly got buried, which is what I expected.

I looked at the community tab, for the second time ever, to be greeted by a stolen model. It’s a total dumpster fire.

The communities feature is kinda silly… why have both a forum AND a communities thing in the post making process ? It’s like offering people the opportunity to advertise in 2 places… of course they’ll do it for every single model… why wouldn’t they ? It just creates a spam-stream, however, imo.

I have started doing the opposite.
I have posted to not look at my helmet stand, I don’t want a boost or a like and I refuse to make a poll about it.

then of course I linked it.

Keep in mind, these blatant rule breakers are getting away with their games whilst MW log jams our gift cards to see if the hard work we put in to earn them was criminal in some way.

It’s like they see a fork in the road with a big neon sign saying criminality this way and a nice simple sign saying, loyal designers that way, they go for the loyal designers each and every turn.

That’s the same guy Square3D pointed out earlier… his skills sure improved quickly lol. I saw the model creator called him out and he claimed it was made in “Make my vase” lol.

I will say this and take it with a grain of salt because it’s based on what i saw and still see from the community tab and the interaction these users have together.
All accounts, except those that i painted over. are from the same persons. Find out who owns them by looking at the community tab and the followers

Oh wow, didn’t know the designer was over here as well. When you reverse image search it brings you to their vase on Printables which I figure that’s where the picture was lifted from and poorly photoshopped.

Not doing too well hiding the identify, they all start Will…
