Video Quality: Bambu Studio vs Bambu Handy

With a desktop computer and Android phone on the same local network as our X1C, the video quality in Bambu Studio is much worse than in Bambu Handy.

Bambu Studio has:

  • Video brightness very dark
  • Video motion has many stutters and hiccups

Both Handy and Studio have:

  • Excessive compression artifacts

Bambu Studio:

Bambu Handy:

It looks really under-lit compared to others I’ve seen.

Looks pretty similar to the screenshot in this thread: No videos and time lapses?

But, I agree, I wish the light was brighter.

My P1P camera looks lighter … (no other light than P1P camera on)

It definitely does!

I think it’s mostly a camera gain setting / display side brightness issue.

Video showing the choppiness:

Video is very smooth in Bambu Handy.

I speculated that part of the issue could be the automatic exposure control, on the camera itself, driving exposure down to compensate for light colored and reflective interior surfaces.

I did a quick test to black out most of these surfaces and indeed, the overall exposure improves:

But, I would still say there is a software issue in the apparent brightness being so different between BS and BH.

I would agree that the video is smoother on the Handy than the studio. Studio is herky jerky.

I would love to see the Bambu Studio camera view be as smooth as it is on the Handy app. Kind of disappointing.
