Was the free gift in the CyberBrick Suvery email a lie/scam?

10 days ago (on a Friday), I received an email asking me to complete a survey.

To tempt me to do so, a “free gift” was the promise.

Get a free gift after you submit it.

I completed the survey on the same Friday, yet no free gift.

I was asked to provide the email address I used to verify the free gift entitlement, fair enough.

I provided the email address at the same time, yet no free gift.

Maybe it will be sent after the weekend, yet no free gift.

I reached out to @SupportAssistant, yet no response and no free gift.

The survey must have been completed by the 15th, yet no free gift.

It is the 18th, and yet no free gift.

So I ask you…

WHERE IS THE FREE GIFT?

Or was the @CyberBrick survey a scam or a lie?

Did the survey too - no response back. I assume that they collected all surveys first (15th), got back to office on monday (18th), now it will take some time to go through all of them to validate emails to accounts - it will take a while.

That is a generous take.

They said…

They said after submission, not some unknown and random future date.

They didn’t say they would collect and collate the information first.

As usual, their communication is lacking.

Are you even the slightest surprised? Does Bambu Lab ever keep their promises—except when they can sneak in some dirty play behind the scenes? I even filled out that survey myself, but honestly never expected them to keep their word. Not after my experiences with them, anyway.

I am not surprised, which is why I am publicising it.

  • Translucent PLA Filament

At the same time, I am still waiting for one of the two “gift” PLA translucent filaments I was promised for their related forum post.

It has been six weeks, and I am still missing one of them. Today they sent me a Lavender spool, despite asking me which I wanted and me saying: Purple, Orange, Teal or Blue.

  • Cyber Brick review units

I was provided with a two-unit Cyber Brick pack.

The original receiver and transmitter used early firmware that couldn’t work with the desktop/mobile apps. They chose not to inform reviewers. We had to spend time trying to fix a problem without a solution.

I reached out, and they eventually agreed to send replacement units. They took a while to arrive.

I am finishing off my first model, and I have found a bug with the LEDs where they do not work as instructed and instead produce random results.

It turns out the firmware on the “new” devices is old. Again, they chose not to tell anyone. I had to spend days working out the answer. A suggestion on the forum led me to the answer.

I looked for the firmware update tool. I found it on the wiki. I downloaded the zip file, yet the file fails to unzip. I repeated the process multiple times.

I have informed them of the problem, and rather than uploading a freshly compressed file, they are sending me yet another set of replacement chips from China, taking a couple of weeks.

Add to these all the massive delivery issues (some of which are documented on the forum) and their suppression of my models, and I know they are lying solely because they promised something.

It’s both sad and somewhat reassuring to know I’m not the only one who feels they are currently more focused on other things than their customers.

I found this post because I was wondering the exact same thing. Filled out the survey and have been waiting ever since in the hopes of some “free gift.” Nothing yet.

I am sorry, but I did not receive any message from you about this topic.

I will ask the colleagues handling this topic for an update, but they will surely provide what was promised. They are probably waiting for the end date of the survey to then send it to everyone.

Once I get a reply, I will update here.

Thank you for your patience.

For reference.

I would be interested to know also, as I did the survey within a couple days of receiving the email and was wondering when I’d finally hear something about the “free gift” whatever it may be…

I have received confirmation that all the participants that shared their email should receive the promised gift by the end of the week.

Thank you for participating in the survey and sharing your feedback!

Whilst I have not completed this survey myself I am not surprised at the Support Assistant’s response; ’ am sorry, but I did not receive any message from you about this topic’ this seems to be the standard response when any support actually deems to respond, I have heard this so many times…

Meanwhile I didn’t receive a survey email at all  What was it about?

Answer some questions about CyberBrick and gain a gift after submission.

That was almost two weeks ago.

We are told we will receive the as-yet unknown gift originally promised once the survey is submitted on Friday (almost two weeks ago).

I assume it was only sent out to a random, possibly targeted group.

It specifically says “thanks for supporting CyberBrick early on”, so most likely those who were involved during the Kickstarter or beta period, rather than once it was available on Maker’s Supply.

I was a reviewer, not in the first batch though.

It would take another person who received it to say where they were in the process.

  • First-stage Beta Reviewers
  • Second-stage Beta Reviewers (me)
  • Kickstarter Pledges
  • MakerSupply purchasers

Did I not say

“or beta period”

I was part of the Kickstarter Pledge group, and MakerSupply purchases (but post survey).

You did, and I was agreeing with you.

I just added that we need at least one other person that received the survey to see if they fall into at least the same grouping as me.

I’ve got my from Makers Supply, and also received survey.

Well that makes the targeted email less easy to assume an easy correlation.

Today is Friday, the day we have been promised we will finally find out what the mystery gift is and I assume receive it.

I wonder if they even know what it is.

It seems as if the gift offer may have been made before anyone thought what it could be.

My guess is, someone is busy making a quick 3MF model of a storage box they can give us, they are hoping to finish it today.
