"You are temporarily blocked from redeeming points"

Been watching MakerWorld from afar, and I am glad to say I sit where I am at.

Also glad I do not develop said web front. Must be a headache back there with all these growing pains.

Game-ifying what should be a creative commons just seems like somebody wants to run a monopoly on the market one day. It doesn’t pass the taste test.

Yes, I opened a ticket. It took them 2 days to send a message that they normally need 7 days to answer.

Banned for the third time, this time I got a copy right strike against a model that’s not even resembling mine, just almost fills the same purpose. Seems like someone think they has copy rights over a model that can hold PTFE tubes. Looking dark for all PFTE tube clips out there with this new guy on the block…

Are copy right claims also handled automatically or did the support not even look at the models and compared?

It is an easy way to deliver a model in a file. Or to offer its components individually as a download. With the latter option, I achieve 10 times as many downloads for 10 parts of a model if each part has to be downloaded separately.

Therefore, it is not an option to simply reduce the number of points. This would not be fair to users who spend days or weeks on a model and then upload it with several print plates in total. Why should such users bother to upload anything at all if they can’t even collect points for the first downloads?

Did you by chance cite another profile perhaps on Printables or Thingiverse?

I’d love to be a fly on the wall of that admin. Here’s a conspiracy theory for you. What are the odds that the copyright infringement claim is coming directly from either Thingiverse or more likely Printables? I mean I seem to remember reading somewhere last month that Bambu stated that Printables blocked linking from Bambu to their site.

If you go to their community guidelines nowhere and I mean nowhere does the word “copy” exist on that page.

So this is yet another example of random make-it-up-as-you-go-along BS.

What’s also odd is that if you look at Bambu’s TOS it states no linking to other sites which is completely opposite of the mutual linking permitted between Printables and Thingiverse.

No, no external links.

I don’t want to play the blame game but I think its quite a high chance the same guy who copy right striked me designed the model he striked against. He has shown his dislike of my project before and got quite pissed when the community shut him down. We do have resembling projects, suppose to be organizational systems, he likes to think he owns the idea of organizing stuff, even though he’s well aware he wasn’t the first one to make this sort of system, nor any parts of the system. By these loose copy right resemblances his whole system should be taken down as well. So feels like quite a dangerous game to play.

So the striked model is a PTFE tube holder, its just a model that holds you PTFE tubes. Something obviously he didnt invent, they have existed for years. The models does not look the same or work the same. The only thing they have in common is they both hold PTFE tubes. They don’t even hold them in the same way, my model uses indents to hold the tube in place while his tubes just lays there.

Here a visual comparison:

Plenty differences, mine stacks with gridfinity, i have 4 different sizes, mine is a spiral and so on. He just has 4 circles which you can put a tube inside. And he certainly does not own the idea of storing or holding PTFE tubes…

I included all raw files in my model so anybody could easily see that I didn’t even look at his model when I got the idea for mine. This whole claim is just silly.

Two of my print profiles got extremely popular on the trending page.

I have had pictures with them and have played by the rules…as a result I have been suspended for 1 month by bambu.

I would like some clarity, it really seems like bambu just suspends accounts before they can use any of the credits they have earned.

It’s similar to a bank, they check the account first before they pay out anything.

I will also be redeeming my points soon, I need another building plate because I want to try something. We’ll see.

But it seems better to sell my designs instead of developing things over days and weeks, uploading them for free and hoping for points. The first option covers at least some of my printing costs and at least it seems easier or quicker to implement. I’m less likely to upload things I’m selling to platforms where they usually get lost among thousands anyway.

There is a lot of “shoot first ask questions later” and “guilty until proven innocent” going on for sure.

What do you mean by “have played by the rules”?

What do you mean by “have played by the rules”?

By that I mean that I’ve adhered to the system announcements where they requested all profiles have photos added.

95% of my profiles, and all the ones with more than 10 downloads have plate pics now.

Beyond that I’ve stayed within community guidelines, no external links, etc. etc.
I was really excited to be contributing to this community, and feel rather disappointed in the response (Redemption privileges revoked for one month) I have gotten for these efforts.

If you appeal, they will (eventually) tell you what they removed the privileges for

I have sent an appeal ticket in, I’ll update here with my findings so we can continue our efforts to piece together the rules.

I have a sinking feeling by the time the suspension is lifted (30 more days) the points will be worthless, or I’ll simply receive another ban to prevent usage.

Tinfoil hat on, I do get the same feeling. It’s a bit suspicious they set up automatic systems to ban people when they get too many downloads. Since they still verify everyone who tried to redeem points what’s the point of banning people for getting points? And even then ignoring the people writing to the support about it. I’m on my third ban for having a too popular model and being confused with bots, right now support has not answered me in soon to be 48h. It feels like they would want to sort these things out as fast as possible as they surely understand the more people that want to download a model the more people will visit their site and get the whole eco system rolling. But maybe they are just happy with the small groups showing up every time something blows up then ban the person right before he gets to redeem his points.

I’ve tried get in contact with the support in any way I can besides an email which I get response to once every week, asking employees, looking for phone numbers to the support, secondary emails, nothing. Its just the ticket system which rarely responds and takes days.

Really doesn’t give me much confidence and want me to redeem as many points I can as fast as possible. The way this is being handled. Seems like Bambu Lab over all has put a lot more focus in trying to get more and more customers/users but completely lost it in the part of taking care of the customers and users they already have.

I wanted to store my points for something more useful than filaments, like getting a discount on a new printer etc. Always thought that even though all this talk about changing point system and what not they will surely just decrease the amount of points you receive and not increase the points to redeem gift cards or anything as to not screw over the people who helped get everything going, but as of now it seems like they almost actively try to screw over their users.

Right now I have a multi-file project, I got 550 downloads on the most popular drawer many more on the drawers combined, but only 250 on the lid and feet’s. Easy calculations at least 300 people out there have an unfinished project just laying on their desk or they threw away the plastic counting it as wasted. I get 5-10 messages a day from random people every time I get banned and the project is taken down, worried if they just wasted kilograms of plastic printing everything they have so far, if the project is going back up or what’s going on.

I tried to explain the situation to the support first time they kind of cared, solved it in 28h which was great if you ignore what caused the problem to begin with. But now I cant even get a response in 48h. No matter where I turn asking for support I’m just being ignored.

It’s getting to the point I’m starting to get a bad conscious for releasing the project. Not everyone is sitting on 50kg of plastic and can just squirt away as they please. Most people that would print these sort of systems are kind of new. I feel like I contributed to screw over a lot of innocent people who did not deserve it.

Hopefully everything will be sorted out, but its so easy to assume the worst and just spiral when you cant even get a response from support, nor anyone else you try to contact.

Maybe they think you’re artificially inflating your numbers by using multiple files instead of using multiple plates in a single print file.

Note that Bambu themselves do this on some of their official models.

I have been manually verified before but their automatic system might think so. Problem is I cant do it any other way, 100’s of files in total, biggest parts takes 12 plates, bambu studio allows 16(?). Not even thinking about how unorganised it would be if it did. But its not like i intentionally split it more than necessary, at first i didnt even care about the points but at this stage it just feels like a waste if they would go up in smoke. Its just the easiest way to do it, now you can just look at en image, download it and print. No need to read 10 pages of a manual etc

To be blunt here. This is what the tech industry calls

A Failed Launch!!!

Or as they say in the Military, a true “Charlie-Foxtrot”.

Even a casual observer can see that Bambu released the Beta and realized that they set the payout odds on the proverbial Slot Machines too low, risking the proverbial casino’s financial stability. In the real world, real casinos would have to pay out, but Bambu is getting away with this. They will continue breaking their commitment to consumers until someone files a complaint with the State Attorney General.

In this situation, Bambu has the option to suspend Makerworld until they resolve the issues in their system of rewards. However, they are choosing to continue with the current setup, enticing individuals to participate despite the problems, ultimately benefiting from the efforts of those who have worked hard, but at their expense.

In legal terms, fraud is not just about telling lies or misrepresenting facts. It’s about the financial harm caused by these misrepresentations. For instance, if a company makes a promise to pay for services in exchange for effort and then shuts down before customers can redeem their rewards, that would typically be considered fraud. The question raised here is how swiftly such a brick-and-mortar business would face consequences for such actions compared to the situation at hand.

Woho, got a respons from the support. Apparently Jorge Rui owns the copy right of the idea of fitting PTFE tubes LMAO. What a joke of a support. Even though he did not come up with the idea, he was not the first to make a model, more like the 500th, nor look or have anything in common with my model, more than being able to clip in a PTFE tube. He apparently holds the right to the idea. The support has absolutely lost it. Absolutely insane. Nobody can make a model that holds on to a PTFE tube, because some dude made the 500th version now like to claim ownership of the idea.

How are these models even remotely alike, the only thing they have in common is they both can hold on to PTFE tubes.

I even included all my raw files, proving how my model has nothing to do with his, but nah. Manually reviewed and these are the same.

Right, thats just a joke. Ask them to show patent papers

This is completely ludicrous. How on earth do they defend this? You know I kind of thought a lot of people overreacted and were just mad over how Bambu Lab handles stuff. But this is crazy. Is he gonna sue Wallmart over how they package water hoses next? How do you come to a conclusion like this after manually reviewing something? I absolutely 100% agree with them just trying to keep people away from the points they earned at this stage.
