maker world do offer help on their exclusive program
something like up to 5 times a year, hopefully thats more then enough
but as long as there’s no penalty on Etsy side, those people would just keep steal things anyway
Is this new? It isn’t in their program description.

They did get some stuff taken down from Aliexpress, but it looks like that was just because they read a forum post about it.
Thanks for the reminder. I do check Etsy from time to time and had messaged sellers several times. This one is new.

Hmm… when they launched their Exclusive program i read all the terms and i don’t remember this being there, as many other things that they also have written. Did they changed their terms without informing anyone (as they normally do)?
Ah yes, i answered my own question by reading a bit more.

Yes, it really ends this way
I think some of this might be a misunderstanding. I believe he posted this here as an alert to other creators that they should see if their models are on Etsy. Were you curious as to why he posted it under “Makerworld”?
Also, we are all avid consumers, may we see your Etsy so that we might buy some of these public domain models?
Yeah the only thing I can find in it is this…
(b) The Exclusive Model has been uploaded, posted, shared, or made available on a third-party 3D model platform without your authorization.
They don’t seem to be covering NC license violations arising from printed objects, only 3d model files themselves on 3d model platforms. Perhaps they changed it since Malc read it, but he seems to be mistaken about them providing that kind of support.
Here’s my experience so far. First off, I have a Patreon page and have people paying me each month for the rights to sell my designs, so I have to be more vigilant with reporting thieves. If I didn’t have that, I probably wouldn’t care quite as much because it does take up a decent amount of time.
If you have a popular model, everyone and their mother is going to want to sell it without permission. We’ve discovered that a lot of people have no idea how the various types of license work and what each one allows you to do. A lot of people assume if it’s on the internet, it’s free for the taking.
You have to do searches weekly to find people selling your stuff. Check Facebook marketplace, eBay, Etsy, and TikTok. Those seem to be the most popular places. For the most part, people on Facebook marketplace are pretty easy going. Usually all it takes is a polite message letting them know they can’t sell without permission and we’ve actually had a lot of people sign up with our Patreon after contacting them. The rest just removed the listing. Easy enough there. Etsy is a bit different. Don’t waste your time messaging people there. I’ve not had a single person respond back. So now it’s straight to reporting them. To report on Etsy, you do have to go through several steps that aren’t very clear when you do it the first time, but once that’s done, it’s very easy to do. eBay has another bunch of steps which were are getting ready to do for the first time.
It’s frustrating to have to deal with this on a weekly basis, but it definitely makes for a happier group of Patreon members for sure.
He is not mistaken, and i am not taking sides. I can tell you that because the terms were those, when they launched the program. There is even a topic disclosing and discussing it.
Heck, i even posted a new topic asking them for support for a model of mine.
Let me see if i can find it… brb
This is the announcement and where most of the “action” was.
yes, I think every designer should be aware someone might be selling your model files as “commercial license”, its far more worse then just selling a 3D printed model
Clicking on the shop leads me to https://www.etsy.com/shop/BytesArtisticTR where there are 90+ stolen files. They are selling files, not physical prints, weirdly enough.
I recognize half the files that guy has.
I just messaged SavyMaker, that LOTR castle is theirs.
yes, he steal my model and got taken down " one model"
its annoying every designer has to report him one by one, and he still there and make money
They reach out to people and let them know when their models have been seen elsewhere, I received one recently.
Intellectual Property
Respecting intellectual property is essential:
Ownership: Retain ownership of your original creations. Upload your Exclusive Models using Standard Digital File License. Ensure your Exclusive Model’s exclusivity on MakerWorld and report any possible theft swiftly, as it could affect your model’s Exclusive status. If you have trouble removing suspicious models from other platforms, contact us immediately for official copyright support.
It is all detailed.
Wow, I recognize many of them and just messaged some people.
Keep an eye on:
https://www.etsy.com/de-en/shop/3DPrintableArts
https://www.etsy.com/de-en/shop/PrintWorx3DIreland
Both often sell models without any license. Have reported them enough to know and normally Etsy removes the listings but they keep going.
What were the steps you’ve taken to get the model taken down? I created a profile on their ip manager website and listed some of my models. When I tried to get a listing taken down they asked me for a copy of my government issued ID (i don’t know how this helps them, so I’m hesitant to share it “just because”) and documentation proving that I am the copyright holder before they ultimately rejected my claim.
And the sad little incompetent thief still has my model listed…
Don’t know what Anko did, but in my case, being in the EU, they did not ask me for any ID, just proof that i was the owner. That then i showed with screenshots from the project in every way possible, so that they wouldn’t refuse.
Took them less than 2 hours to remove several listings.
That sounds promising, I am also in the EU. Did you go through their ipmanager portal or did you take another route? Thanks!
